A comparison of oral metoprolol and propranolol in patients with chronic bronchitis.

A double-blind study of oral metoprolol and propranolol in nine patients with chronic bronchitis (Medical Research Council definition) showed no appreciable deterioration in lung function or significant differences between the two drugs.

Persistent asthma after treatment with beta-blocking agents.

Two atopic subjects with previously trivial asthma developed severe wheezing after receiving beta-adrenergic blocking agents. These drugs were discontinued but severe airways obstruction was still present more than 18 months later.
