[The addition of potassium rhodanide to artificial saliva in electrochemical corrosion research].
Polarization curves of five dental alloys and pure platinum were made in artificial saliva with and without potassium-thiocyanate. From 400 mV (SCE) the noble alloys show a current rise. The reason for this current rise not corrosion, but a redox reaction of the potassium-thiocyanate. For potentiodynamic polarization measurements the addition of potassium-thiocyanate to the artificial saliva is problematic.
