Algodystrophy after aortic bifurcation surgery.
Algodystrophy may follow surgery at the aortic bifurcation. Patients present with pain, trophic changes, and cutaneous dysaesthesia in one or both legs. Diagnostic sympathetic blocks may relieve pain, abolish dysaesthesia, and increase blood flow. Recognition of algodystrophy is important to avoid further vascular surgery which will exacerbate the symptoms.
