[The electrical activity of the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus and the morphofunctional characteristics of the gonads in birds during blockade and stimulation of the beta-adrenergic receptors].

Beta-adrenoreceptors agonist isadrine as shown by measurement of hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (AN) summary electrical activity and by morphometry of its neurons and testis does not result in significant acceleration of maturation in maturing (4-6 week old) male japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Anapryline-induced blockade of beta-adrenoreceptors leads to small inhibiting of the reproductive complex. This findings confirm our previous works, according to which brain beta-adrenergic system does not play leading role in regulation of maturation in birds. The direct correlation between morphometrical and electrophysiological features of AN neurosecretory cells was demonstrated as well.

[Specific interactions of isoguanine with the neutral and deprotonated carboxylic group of amino acids: results of model quantum chemical calculations].

The MNDO/H quantum chemical calculations performed in order to estimate energetic features of the isoguanine (isoGua) prototropic tautomers complexes with acetic acid and its carboxylate-ion (models of neutral and deprotonated forms of amino acid carboxylic group) demonstrate ability of the latter to induce the N9H-->N7H tautomeric transition in the base, being characteristic to other purine bases as well. By contrast, the neutral carboxylic group forms the most stable complex with the ground-state isoGua tautomer N3HN9H.

[The central catecholaminergic mechanisms regulating thyroid function in birds].

Response of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-thyroid system of birds to drugs influencing brain catecholaminergic structures was analyzed by means of radioimmunoassay and morphometry. The 12-day- and 60-day-old cockerels were given dopamine precursor (L-DOPA), dopamine-blocking agent (haloperidole) and alpha-adrenoceptor activator (phenylephrine) during 7 days. The results obtained demonstrate that the brain catecholaminergic structures have participated in regulation of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-thyroid system of birds. The dopaminergic structures have inhibited, the thyroid function while, alpha-adrenergic structures have stimulated it.
