Primary nursing implementation using the project nurse and the nursing process framework.

The authors describe their experiences in implementing primary nursing on a pilot unit in a 350-bed acute care VA hospital. The change from team/functional nursing to primary nursing was organized and implemented using a project nurse and the nursing process steps of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
