[Free cation protein secreted by gastric epithelium as an ingredient of the alkaline component of gastric juice].

The results of the study suggest that the secrete of the gastric lining epithelium of man and dog contains a free cation protein which is a macromolecular ingredient of the alkaline component of gastric juice. Under conditions of increasing and persisting hypersecretion of the acid, first the surface and then the pit epithelium increasingly secrete cation protein, and in the gastric juice an increased content of the alkaline component is detected. Subsequently, with persisting hypersecretion, the synthesizing capacity of the epithelial cells is exhausted and this is accompanied by a deficiency of the alkaline component in gastric juice.

[Histochemical characteristics of mast cells in hemangiomas].

Mast cells of hemangiomas localized in the skin and in the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, have a similar histochemical characteristics of protein and carbohydrate components. The histochemical characteristics of the carbohydrate component indicate either a high (as compared with the norm) degree of sulfating of heparin molecules, or quantitative accumulation of its molecules in the mast cells cytoplasm. Moreover, in mast cells there were revealed protein and a neutral carbohydrate component. An assumption is put forward that histochemical changes in mast cells in hemangiomas were of compensatory-adaptive character and were directed to prevent the thrombogenesis in hemangiomas.

[Comparison of the histochemical bases of epidermis differentiation in vertebrates].

It was been shown that in the line of forms of amphibia, reptiles, mammals, including man, the histochemical differentiation of the epidermis is related with changes in protective and transitory zones. For instance, in amphibia the accomodation to the terranian medium is accompanied by establishment of the vertical histochemical gradient in the epidermis which is manifested by accumulation of a protein rich in cationic and sulfhydril groups in the protective zone. The epidermis of reptiles is characterized by presence of high concentrations of a protein rich in cystine in the protective zone. The transient zone is formed on the border of the protective and germinative zones. The epidermis of mammals retains in general features the histochemical type of differentiation of the protective zone which had appeared in reptiles. However, the transient zone of the mammalian epidermis has a high concentration of proteins rich in histidine and arginin. The histochemical differentiation of the human epidermis is related with the distribution of the hairy integument.

Effect of space flight factors on the mammal: experimental-morphological study.

On the basis of a morphological examination of 27 rats that made a space flight and were sacrificed on the 1st-2nd and 26-27th days postflight, it has been shown that the 22-d space flight has produced no significant changes in the structural organization of vital organs of the animals. However, a space flight exposure is not indifferent for animals and leads to the development of morphologically visible changes in individual organs and systems (musculo-skeletal system, hemopoietic organs, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, renal juxtaglomerular system). The detected changes are reversible, nonspecific, and develop in animals exposed to ground-based hypokinetic and other stress experiments.

[The functional activity of microphages and cation protein in experimental allergic arthritis].

A reduction of the content of cation protein in microphages was revealed in experimental allergic arthritis with the aid of the fluorescent-microscopic method of cation protein detection and objective recording of its content. Phagocytic activity of these cells diminished in parallel with reduction of the cation protein content. Protective properties of microphages were possibly reduced as a result of allergic alteration of cells leading to their structural and functional reconstruction.

[Complex application of stains in the histochemical study of proteins].

The paper proposes a complex of methods for the histological study of protein which allosw revealing heterogeneity of its compostitions, determining the protein discharge and obtaining the data on the presence and distribution of a number of aminoacid residues. The schedule of the study includes reactions with dichlortriazine basic and acid stains (of both low and high affinity). The proposed schedule is convenient for detection and characterization of protein both in the structure, containing mainly proteins, and in the structures whose biopolymeres are represented mainly by carbohydrates.
