[Lymphogranuloma venereum].

A young couple's case of Lymphogranuloma venereum was reviewed by the authors. They described the case's medical history and then they reviewed those tissue--cultural and immunological--methods which made sure the assumed diagnose by clinical and histological datas. The symptomless and painless wife's subclinically process was discovered. They called attention for that in spite of correct diagnose rareness the illness occurs more often. On the pathological process was influenced therapeutical by tetracyclin. We can treat successfully with tetracyclin the so called "blind-cured' cases. This situation made comfortable the diagnostics activity and it contributed to the wrong surface that the illness occurs rarely.

Diagnostic value of foil thermography in urological diseases.

Authors summarize their experience of 8 years with foil thermography. Based on a total of 1113 examinations, they assess the diagnostic value of this method in some andrological and urological diseases. They found foil thermography to be an independent, but not the exclusive procedure in diagnosing varicocele. In addition, this method has proved to be highly valuable also in differentiating the inflammatory and tumorous processes of the testicles. They point out that thermography is very useful for outpatient practice, due to its inexpensiveness, simplicity and rapid applicability.

[The role of bone scintigraphy and its value in the staging and follow up of prostatic carcinoma].

The role and value of bone scintigraphy in the staging and follow-up of prostatic cancer. Bone scintigraphy was performed in 100 patients with prostatic cancer at the time of histological diagnosis, and during 6 years follow-up in predefinied manner. The sensitivity of the method was enhanced by the results in the case of early M0-1 staging (the rate of the skeletal metastasis was 41% at the first seen). During the follow-up only 8 further cases of skeletal metastasis was observed. In most of the cases the skeletal metastasis was already disseminated at the first seen, the hot spots were located mainly at the pelvis and spine. In six cases "super bone scan" was observed. The conventional hormone therapy resulted in regression in 7 of the patients with skeletal metastasis. According to the authors' experiences the bone scintigraphy is indispensable at the diagnosis in the correct staging, and useful in the patient's follow-up.

The management of retained testis based on our investigations.

The follow-up examinations of 300 children operated for retained testis are reviewed. A total of 128 children (i.e. 42.6% of them) were operated up to the desirable 3 years of age, while 37 children, i.e. 12.3% of the patients, were over 13. The examinations recommended for judging objectively the pathological state, i.e. the condition of the testicles, are surveyed. (i) In operations performed over the age of 3 years, collection of samples for histological study to judge the condition of the testicular substance. (ii) Volumetry of the testis performed by an orchidometer of the authors' design, which provides comparative information for establishing the developmental conditions. (iii). During the diagnostic and control examinations, the simple, rapid, inexpensive and non-invasive foil thermography was found useful which may furnish comparative data on the blood supply and the position and size of the testicles. The results of 322 operations, i.e. 95% of the patients, could be followed up and according to them, 286 operations (i.e. 89%) were revealed to be successful. The operative technique is also described. The role of retained testis in fertility is analysed. It is pointed out to be decisive in further improvement of the results that the children be operated as early as possible but at least up to their age of 3 years! This requires a certain change of attitude and a better organized paediatric urological care from the physicians in this field.

Kidney scintigraphy in the diagnostics of urological renal diseases.

The authors report on their experiences in the diagnostics of urological renal diseases gained by 256 kidney scintigraphies of a total of 227 patients. The more important trends of progress made in the recent years in nuclear medicine are outlined. The sensitivity (93%) and specificity (86%) of the examination based on the surgical and histological findings are determined. The technical importance of the study made from several directions using up-to-date radiopharmaca is emphasized in obtaining the results being favourable even in international comparison. The importance of the coordination between the urologists and experts well-versed in nuclear medicine is pointed out in selecting the examination best suited for the purpose (dynamic, static examination). Based on the literature and on their own experiences, the diagnostic results of the examination in detecting and controlling renal diseases are summarized.

[Experimental data on the peristaltic activity of the ileal ureter].

A new method by considering the physiological relations by means of strain gauges was explored for the investigation of the peristaltic activity of the ileal ureter. The motility of the ileal ureter can be measured simultaneously with the peristaltic activity of the ileum by this method, and mathematical signal analysis. The ileal ureter has a continuous rhythmic peristalsis. This one differs from the contractions of the ileum above all by the amplitude. The ileal ureter secures the urinary transport under different experimental situations with enlarged amplitude and rhythmic peristalsis.

Investigation of the functioning of the ileum-ureter by means of camera renography.

The use of camera renography under experimental conditions is described. The conductivity of the ileo-ureter formed by various surgical techniques in 24 dogs and the function of the operated kidney were studied. The non-invasive examination lasted for 20 minutes and was performed with two different labelled drugs (131I-iodohippurate and 99mTc-DTPA) and a gamma-camera calculator system. The results have shown that the ileo-ureter provided with a direct single layer uretero-ileal anastomosis ensured best the transport of urine and so it seems to be most promising for human application.

[Functional ability of the ileo-ureter determined by camera function scintigraphy].

The function of the ileo-ureter and the operated kidney was investigated by means of the camera functional scintigraphy in 23 dogs operated under different techniques. This non-invasive examination was carried out with two different radio-remedies (131I-Hippuran and 99mTc-DTPA) by a gamma camera microprocessor. The direct single-layered ileo-ureteric anastomosis showed the best urine transportation. This method has a great practical importance in the opinions of the authors.

Experimental ureteroileal anastomosis.

The operational techniques of invaginational, two-layer and one-layer direct ureteroileal anastomoses were studied in 60 dogs. The results were checked by means of radiologic and histologic methods. When the stump of the ureter is intact, direct ureteroileal anastomosis seems to be more favourable from the aspect of restoration of the urine passage and protection of the renal parenchyma.
