[The first public autopsy in the region which is now Czechoslovakia?].

An autopsy performed in 1600 by a Slovak Dr. Jesenius, professor of anatomy at the Charles University of Prague, was for long years taken for the first public postmortem in this country. According to our investigations, another autopsy for public was done by Dr. med. Simon Grynaeus 6 years earlier in Brno. The fact was verified by a notice in the Municipal Chronic of Brno preserved in basement of the Brno Municipal Archives. Its author was identified as Georg Ludwig von Liebeneck, official chronicler at that time.

A comparison of predictions from peripheral and central theories of emotion.

Peripheral and central theories of emotion differ in the role they ascribe to cognitive and physiological variables in arousal. This study compared the responses of quadriplegics and normal controls to sexually arousing stimuli under various conditions of false heart-rate feedback. The results support a centralist position and the relatively greater importance of cognitive factors in emotional responsiveness.

Arousal response predictions derived from ego psychology.

The purpose of this study was to examine the prediction from ego psychology that excessive stress leads to either a struggling or distancing response. Male subjects, preselected on the R-S scale, were exposed to an explicit pornographic movie in the presence of a female confederate. Skin conductance levels, self-report data, and a work association test with double entendre words were the dependent measures. The results indicated that subjects struggle rather than distance themselves when confronted with apparently stressful stimuli.
