Types of mesenchymal reactions in the carcinoma of uterine cervix.

In the cervical cancer stroma three essential types of mesenchymal reaction: myxoid, fibrogenic with angioplasia and fibroblastic low-differentiated were disclosed. The border membrane of cancer foci is composed of fibroblast layer and ground substance abundant in Ac-MPS of the hyaluronic acid type. This substance is the basal immunosuppressive factor of cancer cells in situ (TIS). Similar activity is exhibited by the pathologic mesenchymal proteins of fibrynoid and hyaline type. The level of chemical differentiation of the mesenchyma, changes according to the maturity of cellular factor in connective tissue. Ac-MPS of the hyaluronic acid type prevail in the ground substance of the myxoid and fibroblastic mesenchyma, while the substances containing sulfuric groups predominate in the tissue matrix exhibiting fibrogenic tendencies.

[Heterotopic glia in the brain developmental malformations. A histological study (author's transl)].

The authors carried out the histological examination of the heterotopic glia and distinguished 5 architectonic structures: 1. isolated glial formations, 2. mixed: glia-mesenchymal formations, 3. semiinsular formations on the brain surface that the brain warts resembled. The remaining formations (4. and 5.) were heterotopic low differentiated glial and ependymal formations within the white matter. The authors suggest that isolated glial and mixed formations seen above the surface of the brain may derive from the inner cells of primary meninge which preserved the ability to multipotential differentiation, so that these formations couldn't be the result of the disturbed migration of neuroglia.

Types of reaction in the regional lymph nodes in non-metastatic and minute-metastatic carcinoma of the uterine cervix.

The authors studied tissue reactions in the regional lymph nodes of 68 patients with an invasive cancer of the uterine cervix at stage I and II of neoplastic disease. Two basic types of the lymph nodes reactions have been distinguished. In the first type of changes a reactive hyperplasia of sinusoidal histiocytosis predominated, as well as distinct activation of lymphocyte production within the follicles and numerous aggregates of plasmacytoid cells within the medullary cords. The second type of reaction was characterised by fibroplastic reaction causing constriction and block of capsular lymphatic and blood vessels, the pseudotransformation into hemolymph node and hematoxyphilic atrophy of lymphoreticular tissue. The authors' observations indicate that in case with the predominance of the second type reaction within regional lymph nodes arise favourable conditions for the production of distant metastases.
