[Conn's adenoma as a cause of hypertension].

The authors describe two observations of primary hyperaldosteronism, caused by a cortical adrenal adenoma (Conn's adenoma). Both patients were treated by unilateral adrenalectomy from lumbotomy. (In the second patient subtotal resection). The problem is discussed from the aspect of morphological diagnosis and location with emphasis on the primary importance of CT. The surgical operation is aimed and simple without the necessity of peroperative confirmation of the morphological background of the syndrome.

[Acute states in colorectal surgery].

The authors evaluate their own group of 80 patients treated in the acute stage of colorectal disease during the period between 1980-1987 at the First Surgical Clinic, Faculty Hospital with Policlinic, Olomouc. Fifty-five patients treated by the classical three-stage operation with a lethality of 51%, 25 patients treated by primary resection with a lethality of 31%. The encouraging immediate and long-term results of rationally indicated acute resections are not in favour of three-stage operations.

[Cystadenoma and cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas].

The authors analyze a group of six patients with cysadenocarcinoma of the pancreas. They draw attention to the fact that 1. tumours of the type of pancreatic cystadenomas turn in recent years more frequently malignant, 2. it is important to consider whether the cystic formation of the pancreas, i.e. also an apparent pseudocyst, has a tumourous character and to supplement the examination also by a microscopic examination, and 3. if the histologist confirms a benign tumour, even then we cannot rely that the tumour does not also contain malignant foci and we cannot be certain that a cystic pancreatic tumour will permanently retain its benign character.
