[Echographic study in the exploration of supra-aortic trunks. Comparative study with doppler velocimetry and their respective roles in functional vascular explorations].

Over the last six months, 1,311 doppler examinations of the supra-aortic trunks have been performed with confrontation doppler, ultrasound, arteriography and intra-operative examination according to the cases. We studied these cases with the following questions in mind: Does real time ultrasound of the supra-aortic trunks give more valuable information than the classical doppler examination? Is the diagnosis simplified? Is the therapeutic management altered? We are able to conclude: 1. In the case of a mildly stenotic plaque (less than 50%), the doppler examination gives an acoustic and graphic representation which is rich and not differentiated for stenoses of between 10% and 50%, which corresponds to an ultrasound plaque of 1 mm to 4-5 mm: the ultrasound supports the diagnosis. 2. However, in stenoses greater than 50%, there is good correlation between the doppler examination, ultrasound and arteriography. Ultrasound enables the exact extent of the plaque to be visualised in sagittal and transverse planes. It can diagnose aneurysmal lesions and suggest ulcerated lesions. 3. Finally, the doppler examination seems to be indispensable in cases of pre-thrombosis or fresh thrombosis of the carotid. Ultrasound can be negative at this early stage.

[Computers and angiology. Doppler test of the supra-aortic trunk].

Computing is the hegemonic technique of tomorrow. It is perfectly applicable in angeiology, not so much for the indexing of varices which has proved its worth on card ever since Professor Tournay's schematic organization and teaching, but for the running of the surgery (not really specific), arterial disorders, phlebites, dealing with signals, mail, statistics. This "evolutive" work uses Gosling's index for the comparative study of the supra-aortic trunks.

[Thermal test of reactive hyperemia: a propos of an objective study of pyridinol carbamate].

The thermal test of reactive hyperhemia (TTHR) gives a global and reliable appreciation of the cutaneous microcirculation, the importance of which is well known. In this study, sixty-one subjects were treated for from one month to one year with pyridinol-carbamate. The TTHR was modified in seventy-nine per cent of the cases, showing a considerable and lasting improvement. The clinical symptoms followed a comparable evolution.

[Indications for noninvasive peripheral vascular explorations].

A rapid and partial review is done, including a rapid examination as was possible in May 1977. A brief description is given of the material used in most laboratories with reference to certain parameters. There follows a list of the circumstances in which they are advisable, that includes surgery, supra-aortic vessels, various circulatory bridles, juvenile arteriopathies, malformations, aneurysms, sympathectomy, venous thrombosis and devaluation... The functional valvular explorations, with pre-eminence of the Doppler, after many years of hesitant progress, have made rapid strides and are bond to improve with each month.
