[Epidermoid cyst, a benign tumor of the testes. Concerning 2 cases (author's transl)].

With reference to two cases of epidermoid cyst of the testes, it is recalled that testicular tumors are rarely benign (3% of cases); among these the epidermoid cyst remains exceptional. This tumor is always benign, with no degenerative potential, as long as it exists in the pure form. Only the histological examination permits one to affirm that it is an isolated epidermoid cyst without any other teratomatous constituent. Simple orchidectomy is the treatment of choice for this tumor.

[Complete atrio-ventricular block caused by a metastatic tumor of the heart. Apropos of a case].

Metastatic tumors of the heart are often asymptomatic but they may dominate the clinical picture. The location in the interventricular septum can account for conduction disturbances. The authors report a case of esophagus neoplasm with septal metastasis responsible for a complete atrioventricular block. The histologic study of the bundle of His by serial sections showing the destruction of the conduction fibres by malignant elements has not been carried out till now except in some observations. The prognostic of the atrioventricular metastatic block is very poor; the ten months' survival which was observed in the reported case is one of the most extended in literature.

[Perforation of rectal with peritonitis during a barium enema administration. Report of a case (author's transl)].

The authors report one case of perforation of rectal with peritonitis during a barium enema administration in a patient suffering from an adeno-carcinome of colon, and died after 48 hours with collapsus. After a brief review of the literature, the authors expose pathogeny and clinical signs of this relatively rare accidients. The conclusions repose on watchful precautions according to indications and technical way of barium enema examination in patients specially exposed to perforation accidents.

[Present evaluation of hansenian treatment by association of chemotherapy and immunostimulation (author's transl)].

I.--Treatment with BCG and DDS in lepromatous or borderline patients. II.--Value of BCG added to a prior and long-continued treatment with DDS or rifamipicine. III.--Value of various immunostimulants given previously to a treatment with BCG and chemotherapy. IV.--Value of lysate of Neisseria perflava as an immunostimulant associated with DDS in an initial treatment of lepromatous and borderline patients. V.--Results of a seventeen months treatment of lepromatous and borderline patients with a lysate of Neisseria perflava associated with DDS. The various therapeutic trials reported in these 5 papers demonstrate that hansenian nevritis conventionnally treated may show improvement when an immunostimulant (BCG or bacterial lysate or levamisole) is given either previously or in association with DDS or rifampicine or after such a treatment. It has still been observed that two immunostimulants given simultaneously have no good effect and that this association must be discarded.

[Paraclinical study of onchocercosis in a leprous and non-leprous population].

In a survey dealing with the frequency of onchocerciasis in leprous environments in the Marchoux Institute in Bamako (Mali) evidence is given that 43% of the leprous persons hospitalized there were touched in addition by onchocerciasis whereas, only 14% of the consultants in dermatology have proved to be also onchocercian. This last frequency is consistent with the overall estimation usually recognized for Mali. No difference was shown between leprous and non-leprous persons for snip. In contrast, 33% of microfilariae bearing leprousians showed no positive reaction to diethylcarbamazine whereas no more than 5% of non-leprous persons displayed similar negative response. Similarly leprousian blood yielded most often the microfilariae of Onchocerca volvulus. Surprisingly, hypereosinophilia has proved to be normal or null in 37% of microfilariae bearing leprosians. Though aware of the occurrence of numerous real or possible biases in such an approach the authors wonder what meaning such a difference between leprous populations and non-leprous ones in Mali can have. If a relation is definitely borne out in the future between both pathologies, they further wonder whether leprosy is the bed of onchocerciasis or vice versa.
