[Synovial lipoma arborescens].

The synovial lipoma are uncommon articular tumors of unknown origin. We report two cases of synovial lipoma arborescens arisen in a man and a woman respectively 41 and 27 years old. Both had already consulted for a tumefaction progressively increasing in volume. It was accompanied in the first case by a laxity in the knee joint. Radiography and arthroscopy showed an important hyperplasia of the articular synovia. A total synovectomy was performed in both cases. The synovia had a hairy aspect and was extremely thickened. It weighted 1.5 kg in the first case and its section had a fatty aspect. The histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of synovial lipoma arborescens. The observed aspect of the two tumors and particularly their volume, which was very important in the first case are arguments in favor of their tumoral nature.

Adult

[Fibrous inflammatory polyp of the digestive tract. Apropos of 5 cases].

Inflammatory fibroid polyp is a rare benign tumor of the digestive tract. The authors report three cases: two intestinal and one gastric. These cases are of particular interest because of the association ill one case of an intestinal submucosal lipoma with the inflammatory fibroid polyp, and the existence in the gastric case of an inflammatory reaction caused by food debris. This offers, further evidence in support of the theory implicating a chronic inflammatory reaction.

Aged

[Collagenous enterocolitis. Apropos of a case and review of the literature].

Collagenous enterocolitis is a recent entity of which only two cases have been published. The authors report the association of collagenous colitis and collagenous sprue in a 67-year-old woman. The diagnosis of collagenous enterocolitis is based on the presence of a duodenal collagen deposit with partial villous atrophy associated with collagenous colitis. The symptom appeared one month after non-steroidal antiinflammatory treatment. The authors discuss the role of drug toxicity in the pathogenesis of collagenous enterocolitis.

Aged

[Colloid cyst of the fourth ventricle. Apropos of a case].

We report a case of a 29 year old patient with a colloid cyst of the fourth ventricule. Colloid cysts or epithelial cysts are exceptional in this site. A common neuroepithelial origin with third ventricule cysts could be explained by similar embryological developments of the prosencephalic and the rhombencephalic roofs. The diagnosis can only be made by histological examination.

Adult

[Large placental chorioangiomas: 2 case reports].

Two cases of large placental chorioangiomas are reported. These tumors gave rise to obstetric and neonatal complications with perinatal death in both cases. These rare tumors were discovered by pathological examination of the products of delivery, with their precise nature being identified histologically. Review of the literature shows that fetal, neonatal and obstetric consequences are multiple and can often be explained by placental and cardiac insufficiency in utero secondary to the presence of these vascular tumors.

Adult

[Primary malignant melanoma of the rectum. A case report].

The authors report a case of primary malignant melanoma of the rectum seen in an 84-year-old woman. This blackish tumour measuring 3 cm in diameter and situated 8 cm from the anal margin was treated by surgical excision. The patient died during the immediate postoperative period.

Aged

[Cerebral aspergillotic granuloma. Apropos of a case and a review of the literature].

The authors report a case of aspergillus granuloma of the brain, in a 28 year old woman, simulating a meningioma. Preoperative diagnosis of aspergilloma is difficult. However, it may be suspected in a patient who has associated pulmonary and paranasal sinus fungal infection. Peroperatively it may be confused with a brain tumour. The lesions usually are in the frontal lobes. Diagnosis can be made only by surgical biopsy with identification of fungal elements. Granuloma induce a good host response, and a high capacity to elaborate antibodies.

Adult

[Thyrolipoma. A case report and review of the literature].

The authors report a case of thyrolipoma in a 50 year old woman, presenting with nodular goitre and tracheal compression. Microscopically, the coexistence of adipocytes and thyroid vesicles within the thyroid nodule is characteristic of this rare tumor. The relationship between this tumor and diffuse thyroid lipomatosis and amyloid goitre are discussed.

Adenoma

[A case of subcutaneous dirofilariasis in Tunisia].

The authors report a case of Scrotal subcutaneous dirofilariasis in man for the first time in Tunisia. The diagnosis was established by pathological examination of a biopsy but the identification of the species was not possible. Surgical exeresis of the node was followed by a complete recovery.

Adult

[Chemodectoma of the orbit. Apropos of a case and review of the literature].

The clinical, follow up and diagnostic features of a case of chemodectoma (paraganglioma) of the orbit are reviewed. 30 cases are reported in the literature. Chemodectoma may arise in any area of the body where non chromaffin paraganglion structures are situated. These are localized in the orbit of the chimpanzee but not in the orbit of man. Malignant behavior of chemodectoma has been a controversial subject, with most authors considering them to be benign tumors. Some authors have diagnosed locally recurrent and infiltrative tumors as malignant. The authors report one case of chemodectoma of the orbit. A 5 year old child has had right exophthalmos. She was treated by tumorectomy. The follow-up is marked by recurrence of the tumor and infiltration of the right hemi-face.
