[Osteitis pubis].

Lytic degeneration of the pubic symphysis is a relatively rare entity. The present study is dedicated to the fact that the disease causes numerous diagnostic problems. Authors based on their three cases describe the clinical features and review the literature. It is stated that both from the aspect of the diagnosis and the result of the treatment, operative intervention is beneficial. In contraversion to numerous papers it is found that the described disease is often infectious and can be consequence of an infection of the urinary tract.

[Bone substitution using allogenic bone preserved in methiolate].

Based on their own material authors analyse the results after implantation of merthiolate-banked allogenic bone grafts; 327 cases are reviewed grouped according to the size of the graft. Based on the radiographic picture the healing period was measured in each case. It is stated that no clinical evidence of any immunologic reaction was found in this material. The described method can be an alternative way of bone grafting in those cases where autotransplantation cannot provide the desired amount of bone or its risks are present.

[Girlestone's arthroplasty with resection of the femur head in the management of infection as a complication of hip prosthesis].

From the endoprosthesis material with early and late complication and treated with Girdlestone's method (resection arthroplasty of the femoral head) n 36 cases, 27 were available for follow-up after 1-11 years (in average 5 years). The assessment was made with an own point-system. 3 categories were differentiated on the base of these points. From the 27 patients 7 were satisfied, 14 "reconciled", 6 dissatisfied. It could be stated that Girdlestone's operation does not mean a catastrophe, as the major part of the patients has no pain and sinus, is able to walk and to make the domestic work and is not reduced to the care of others.
