The case of a baby born with severe nonimmune hydrops fetalis in whom endocardial fibroelastosis was a late finding is reported. Left ventricular dimensions and systolic function were normal at presentation. After recovery from the hydrops, at 2 months of age, a dilated, poorly contracting left ventricle was documented and eventually led to the infant's death.

[Effect of low-molecular dextran on leukergy and thrombergy in cases of cerebral infarct].

In cases of thrombotic cerebral infarction the leucergic and thrombergic tests were done on the 2nd and 3d days of the disease and after 48 hours from the first dextran loading. Fleck's test tube method was used in the leucergy test. The proportion of agglutinated platelets was calculated from a smear stained by Papanicolau method. The results were processed statistically. An inhibitory effect of dextran on aggregation of white blood cells and platelets was observed in the blood of patients with cerebral infarction. The inhibitory effects of dextran was greater in relation to aggregation of platelets than white blood cells. However, in our investigations the effect of this agent on both processes was transient.

[Rheoencephalographic studies in healthy subjects of various age groups].

The purpose of this study was to establish rheoencephalographic value in 90 healthy subjects aged from 20 to 80 years divided into 3 groups. The investigations were done with a two-channel rheographic apparatus produced by Siemens. The so-called rheography II technique was applied. In each subject measurements were done bilaterally in temporal, parietal and central leads. The curves were evaluated in relation to the ECG curve, taking into account the duration in sec. of two parts of the rheographic curve called I and II intervals. The correlation between the size of intervals I and II and the sex, age, side of measurement and area of measurement was subjected to statistical analysis.

[Myocardial infarction-related arrhythmia after rehabilitation treatment in a sanatorium].

The study involved 100 patients (80 men and 20 women), aged between 27 and 69 years treated at the Department of Cardiology, Medical Academy in Lublin for the first myocardial infarction, and classified for a 4-week rehabilitation in sanatorium. A 24-hours ECG recording with Holter technique (Medilog 3000 manufactured by Oxford Medilog Timed) was performed twice. In the first record cardiac arrhythmias ( extrasystole both supra- and ventricular, ventricular tachycardia) were more frequent in comparison with the results of the second recording carried out after a 4-week rehabilitation.
