[Male idiopathic bladder atonia--origin of occasional failures of bladder neck operations].

The rare idiopathic atony of the urinary bladder in man becomes important when it determines the failure of an operation of the neck of the vesicle. Among 200 patients with vesical retention after all 5 cases of primary weakness of the detrusor were found. The compulsory cystomanometry is often not possible during the normal consulting hours or the clinical work on account of the more and more increasing number of patients with diseases of the neck of the vesicle. The measuring of the maximum miction pressure during the endoscopic examination is recommended as screening without greater expenditure.

[Considerations on latency of chronic residual urine in the female bladder (author's transl)].

The process of chronic formation of residual urine in the female bladder, occurring against various aetiological backgrounds and bringing about the risk of terminal renal insufficiency, has continued to remain latent in too many cases. Hints are given on early diagnosis, with particular reference being made to the requirements of cooperation between urologists and gynaecologists.

[So-called hypertrophic female bladder neck obstruction].

The diagnosis of female obstruction of the vesical neck deserves more attention. The hypertrophic form may be established in form of a screening already in the excretion urogramme. It is remarkable that histologically here no hyperplasia of periurethral glands is found, but a vascular hyperplasia as a sequel of primary circulatory disturbances, the hormonal dependence of which remains to be discussed.

[Practical experiences in the execution of transurethral prostate resection].

In comparison to the open adenomectomy the transurethral electroresection of the prostate demands extraordinarily high technical abilities of the operator and at the same time he is confronted with a considerable psychic and physical stress. But almost inversely proportional to this personal engagement is the minimum stress of the patient after operation, the nursing staff and the economy of the hospital. From the point of view of a clinical urological department with a profile of general care the author adopts a definite attitude to the problems of the establishment of the transurethral electroresection of the prostate.

Electrosurgery↗

[Occult late extravasation following transurethral electro-resection].

Late perforation after transurethral electro-resection is possible. Clinical description of 2 cases, in which several days after TUR and TUTUR, respectively, radiologically provable, a rupture in the former operation area developed. In bland course in the two cases conservative healing.

Ultrasonography of gastric ulceration in the dog.

The clinical, ultrasonographic and, when available, histopathologic findings of gastric ulceration in 7 dogs were reviewed. The most common clinical signs were vomiting, hematemesis, melena, weight loss and anemia. Ultrasonographic features of gastric ulcer included local thickening of the gastric wall, possible loss of the 5-layer structure, the presence of a wall defect or "crater," fluid accumulation in the stomach and diminished gastric motility. The localized gastric thickening varied from 9 to 16 mm. The ulcer crater was often located in the center of the thickened site and appeared as a mucosal defect associated with persistent accumulation of small echoes, most likely representing microbubbles. In this preliminary study, there was no definitive ultrasonographic distinction between benign and malignant ulcers.
