[Difficulties of diagnostic and therapeutic policy in association of purulent intracranial processes with inflammatory ENT diseases].

The paper analyses treatment given to 125 patients with purulent intracranial processes combining with inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses, ear and other diseases. Otorhinogenic genesis was diagnosed in 45.6% cases. Often, affections of the paranasal sinuses and ear mask the true reason of the intracranial pathology, making problems for diagnosis and choice of therapeutic policy. Differential-diagnostic features of the diseases which may complicate with purulent intracranial processes as well as urgent therapeutic measures are described.

[Cause-effect relationship in combination of purulent intracranial processes with ENT diseases].

36 case histories were analyzed. The patients had purulent intracranial processes combined with inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and ear. Cause-effect relationships in development of the above diseases are considered. It was found that paranasal and auricular inflammation combined with purulent intracranial processes do not cause always the latter. The ENT diseases may develop not only in parallel with purulent intracranial pathology, but also as its complication. It is shown that post-mortem hyperdiagnosis exists of ethmoidal and sphenoid inflammation as a cause of purulent intracranial processes.

[On the therapeutic methods of facial bone injuries].

The authors present clinicomorphological characteristics of 2293 patients with benign neoplasms of the vocal cords. Nodules predominated in females, contact granulomas in males. Histological and histochemical evidence indicates that polyp-like new growths of the vocal cords known as fibromas, angiofibromas and nodules are not tumors. They are rather edematous, edematous-fibrous and angiomatous polyps arising as a reaction of vocal cords mucosa to phonatory trauma or chemical irritants.

[Regencur hydrogel sinus absorption in the treatment of chronic purulent sinusitis].

Local application of hydrogels based on the sorbent regencur with dioxidine was tried for efficacy against chronic purulent maxillary sinusitis in 30 patients versus matched controls. Changes in the subjective and objective manifestations of the disease were registered on the sensor-analog and visual-analog scales. The findings indicate higher efficacy of regencur hydrogels with dioxidine.
