[Inter-radical compact osteotomy as a method for reducing the mechanical strength of the jaw bone in orthodontic treatment].

A low-traumatic operation, inter-radical compact osteotomy not involving buccal mucosa incision, was used in multiple-modality treatment of maxillodental deformations in schoolchildren with permanent occlusion. Mechanical impairment of horizontal counterforce is achieved by a superficial sawing through a cortical plate in interdental spaces. Bone tissue acquires the plasticity necessary for orthodontic treatment in 7-8 days as a result of reactive inflammation. Such treatment brought a stable result in 90,0 +/- 3,78 percent of adolescents in 8.5 months on an average.

[The prevention of dental caries during adolescent orthodontic treatment].

Teeth and jaw deformations are risk factors for dental caries. This causes a higher incidence (91.48 0.68%) and intensity (4.92 0.06) of caries in orthodontic pathology. Increasing acid resistance of the enamel under effect of fluorine-containing drugs in an effective anti-caries measure in these patients.

[The organization of the treatment and observation of patients with congenital facial clefts at an interprovincial center].

Analysis of the treatment of 600 patients with facial clefts according to the treatment strategy developed at the Stavropol center has shown that such centers should render comprehensive care to all patients of the district. The efficacy of the center's activity directly depends on the activities of its consultation and methodology department, on the treatment strategy, scientifically-based system of follow-up of patients with facial clefts and the status of specialized pediatric service in the district.
