[Local immune reactions in cholecystitis].

The amount of plasma cells synthesizing different class immunoglobulins in the gallbladder wall in 9 practically healthy people and in 19 patients with different forms of cholecystitis was studied by a complex of histological, histochemical and immunofluorescent methods. It was established that catarrhal cholecystitis was accompanied by activated production of immunoglobulins of all classes by plasmocytes of the gallbladder wall. In patients with destructive forms of cholecystitis the level of secretory immunoglobulin A was substantially decreased as well as the amount of plasmocytes synthesizing IgA. The amount of immunocytes producing IgM and IgG became disproportionally greater, there appeared immune IgM complexes and IgG and IgG in the wall of blood vessels and perivascular stroma. The author considers that local immune reactions play an important role in protection of the gallbladder mucosa and pathomorphogenesis of cholecystitis.

[Morphometric research on the cardiomyocytes in cardiac hyperfunction].

By means of a complex morphometrical method special quantitative parameters of cardiomyocytes have been studied in the cardiac parts of 37 dogs, 6 months after right-sided pulmonectomy, and of 12 control dogs. The cardiac hyperfunction is accompanied with an increased mass of the heart's parts, hypertrophy of the right ventricle and right atrium dominating. Hypertrophy of myocardial parts takes place mainly at the expense of the increasing length and width of cardiomyocytes. This causes disorganization and disorder of morphological systems and an essential decrease in compensatory possibilities of the hyperfunctioning heart parts.

[Structural variability of cardiomyocytes of various parts of the heart in its hyperfunction].

By means of morphometrical and histological methods hearts of 84 white rats have been studied in 3 months after right-sided pulmonectomy. Cardiac hyperfunction resulted is accompanied with an increased mass of its parts, where hypertrophy of the right ventricle and atrium predominate. Hypertrophy of myocardial parts takes place mainly at the expense of increasing length and width of cardiomyocytes; this causes disorganization and disordering of morphological systems and an essential decrease of compensatory possibilities of the hyperfunctioning heart parts.

[Adaptive changes in sections of the myocardium of experimental animals undergoing physical loading of a static nature].

Adaptation of the parts of myocardium of 18 white rats to the physical static loadings during two months have been studied by means of morphometric and histological methods. Physical loadings cause hyperfunction and hypertrophy of all chambers of the heart with a predominant hypertrophy of the right ventricle, right auricle and dilatation of these cavities. The heterogeneous changes of the myocardium were found on the organic level.

Adaptation, Physiological↗

[Compensatory and adaptive changes in the heart after pulmonary resection (morphometric analysis)].

The experiment has been performed in 124 non-inbred dogs by means of a complex of morphometrical methods in order to study compensatory-adaptive processes in the heart after pulmonary resection various in its volume. After 58% resection, and especially after 67-75% resection of the lung mass, a stable pulmonary arterial hypertension appears; it results in development of a chronic cor pulmonale and terminates in its decompensation. Application of extrapulmonary arterio-venous anastomosis, before 67-75% of the pulmonary parenchyma is resected, decreases hypertension in the pulmonary circulation, improves adaptive changes of the heart in the newly formed conditions of hemodynamics, preventing development of its failure.

[Adaptation of the heart of the experimental animal to physical loading (morphometric characteristics)].

Physical loadings produce in experimental animals various adaptive rearrangements in the cardiac muscle parts. Peculiar changes in the parts of the hyperfunctioning myocardium essentially depends on the character of physical strains. Static physical loadings produce an increase of the cardiac mass with a predominant hypertrophy of the right ventricle and dilatation of its cavity in most rats. Under swimming--in half of the observations the cardiac hypetrophy occurs mainly at the expense of analogous structural rearrangement in the left ventricle.

Adaptation, Physiological↗

[Organometric evaluation of heart changes during systematic physical exercise].

Hearts from 23 athletes who had died of traumas were investigated using a morphometric approach that involves external and internal macro-changes measurement, plani-and gravimetry, histostereometry, and morpho-statistical treatment. Hypertrophic heart was found in all the cases, while the ratios between quantitative parameters of individual heart muscle departments, as well as nuclear-cytoplasmatic and stromal-parenchymatous relationships and myocardial blood supply were within normal range. It was demonstrated that only a certain portion of myocardial muscular cells, responsible for intensified operation, became hypertrophic in response to systematic exercise.

[Quantitative aspects of the patho-morphogenesis of cor pulmonale after lung resection].

Hearts of 112 randombred dogs after resection of 33-75% of pulmonary tissue were studied macro- and microscopically, by stereometry, and morphological statistical analysis. Pulmonectomies (resection of 58% of pulmonary tissue) and extensive to the development of pulmonary heart. In these cases, the degree of hypertrophy correlates with the volume of the resected lung tissue, the duration of the post-operation period and terminates mostly in heart decompensation of the right type which develops most frequently when there exists a disproportion and unbalanced hypertrophy of various parts of the myocardium.
