IgA1-2 subclass distribution was determined in a series of 62 sera with diagnosed IgA paraprotein. Throughout the series the participation of IgA1 : IgA2 subclasses showed a ratio 9 : 1 even after division of the series into myeloma and nonmyeloma paraproteinemias. On dividing the series according to the antigenic type of the light chains, IgA2 paraproteins with kappa light chains predominated over the lambda type (6 : 1).

In human embryos and fetuses a supernumerary muscle was found situated on the distal margin of the gluteus maximus muscle and supplied by the most distal main branch of the inferior gluteus nerve. According to its origin and insertion it is being named the coccygeofemoralis muscle. In embryos and fetuses of up to 40 mm in CR length the coccygeofemoralis muscle is separated by loose connective tissue from neighbouring fetal muscles. Later on, close contact between the coccygeofemoralis and the distal margin of the fetal gluteus maximus muscle develops, and during the prenatal period both fetal muscles gradually fuse. Postnatally, the coccygeofemoralis muscle is incorporated into the gluteus maximus muscle of which the pars sacroiliaca corresponds to the fetal gluteus maximus itself and the pars coccygea represents the fetal coccygeofemoralis muscle. With respect to the general process of muscle morphogenesis, the developmental pattern described for the gluteus maximus muscle demonstrates that adult muscles may be formed by a fusion of several fetal muscles.
Concepts of QSAR analysis and biological similarity models are combined for use in extrapolation of LD50 values after IP application of a series of aliphatic alcohols (C1-C5) to mouse, hamster, rat, and guinea pig and rabbit. It has been found that although close correlation exists between LD50 values after IP and IV applications for mouse and rat, the QSARs obtained with LD50 after IV application are not suitable for a prediction of LD50 values after IP application for rabbit. Different transformation or distribution processes in mouse, rat, and rabbit after the two types of applications might be the reason. The LD50 values (expressed in mmole/m2 of body surface) seem to be independent of mammalian species used (at least within the mouse, rat, hamster, and probably guinea pig series). This fact makes it possible to predict reasonable values of LD50 after IP application for rabbit. Expression of toxicity in mmole/m2 of body surface may be useful in toxicological studies. The model of quantitative structure-activity-species relationships (QSASR) for the system of alcohols and animals chosen is proposed: log BAij = kj + lj log Xi log BAij = aj + bi log Zj where i denotes an alcohol, j an animal, BA being LD50 (mmole/m2) after IP application, X molecular connectivity 1 chi and Z body surface: body weight ratio. The model is based on the assumption that bi is independent of chemical structure (being zero or close to zero), ai is a function of molecular connectivity 1 chi, kj and lj being independent of animal species. These assumptions resulted from the statistical analysis of QSARs and allometric equations obtained under various conditions.
Hitherto, bisalbuminemia (double albuminemia) was regarded as a rare finding in serum electrophoresis. In its first part, therefore, the present paper briefly refers to history, systematic, appearance, geography, genetics and laboratory problems of anomaly. By means of own observations made in an acquired form of bisalbuminemia in a patient with a myeloma, problems and practical significance of this serum protein anomaly are then discussed in a second part. This serum protein anomaly is likely to occur more frequently than hitherto assumed and after clarification it may contribute to increase our knowledge about indication and technique of the antibiotic therapy.

At the beginning of October 1919 doc. MUDr. Frantisek Prokop came to Bratislava to organize and build the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Medical Faculty of the Comenius University. The submitted investigation, based on assembled documents, gives an account of the existence and activities of this department. The Institute had to be built from scratch; during the first years it was inadequately equipped and understaffed. In 1925 MUDr. Herman Krsek became one of the assistants and in 1935 he was awarded the title of reader in forensic medicine.
