[Venous occlusion impedance measurements--standard study conditions and initial normal values].

Issuing from the medical importance of the determination of a measuring size relevant to the total inflow of blood the diagnostic evidence of the evaluation sign defined as phlebemphraxis impedance quotient (VIQ) shall be proved. A standardization of technical and measurement-methodical parameters, such as electrode technique, temperature of the environment. Temporary formation of the measuring cycle, occlusion technique and position of the extremities was necessary in order to avoid influences on the results of the measurement and their reproducibility. Experimental investigations for the reproducibility are described and as a result standard examination conditions for the establishment of the change of impedance which is proportional to the total inflow of blood are proposed. The areas of norm values for VIQ in rest, VIQmax (after load) and VIQmax- retardation established using these standardized conditions are also give.

[Hemodynamic parameters determined by impedance cardiography in hyperthyroidism].

The impedance-cardiography renders possible the recognition of central haemodynamic parameters on an unbloody way. For the judgment of the method 18 female patients with hyperthyreosis were examined before and during the thyreostatic treatment. At the same time the systolic time intervals were estimated and the results from the two methods were compared. Apart from the abbreviation of PEP and the decrease of the contractility index PEP/LVET the increase of the cardiac index and the reduction of the resistance index indicate the thyreotoxic effect on the cardiovascular system.

[Technical simulation of intensity-duration curves with a model based on the membrane theory].

In earlier studies using a simplified black-box model, new concepts about the shape of I-T curves following electrical stimulation were developed. This model, however, was incompatible with the modern membrane theory of Hodkin and Huxley. The present paper describes a computer-aided simulation of the excitation process, based exclusively on the experimental results of Hdokin and Huxley. The simulated I-T curves do confirm the conclusions of the black-box model.

[Universal measuring site for the determination of tissue-impedance variations in relation to blood perfusion].

In view of the importance of impedance plethysmography requirements are formulated for a modern impedance measuring device basing on a long experience with this method of measurement. The principle mode of action of the measuring equipment and the pneumatics with the timing element are described. A number of recordings is shown to illustrate the universality of the measuring equipment.
