Deep femoral artery with four variations: a case report.

During our routine dissection course for students we found a complex variation of the femoral artery on the left side of a 72-year-old male cadaver. The deep femoral artery was originating from the anterior aspect of the femoral artery; the inferior epigastric and the external pudendal arteries were arising from the deep femoral artery. Besides, the lateral circumflex femoral artery was arising from the lateral aspect of the femoral artery and distal to the origin of the deep femoral artery.

Complex renal vascular variation: a case report.

As the number of renal surgical interventions increase a better understanding of the anatomy of renal arteries and their branches gain in importance. Here we describe a common trunk from the right side of the aorta ramifying into suprarenal and two renal hilar arteries in a 40-year-old male cadaver detected during dissections performed in a routine gross anatomy course. The suprarenal branch is divided into several smaller branches to supply blood to the suprarenal gland. The superior renal hilar artery gave rise to the right testicular artery and an additional suprarenal artery. The inferior renal hilar artery gave rise to one more additional suprarenal artery. The superior renal hilar artery crossed the inferior renal hilar artery. On the same side renal veins were also doubled. For better outcome interesting variations such as in this case should be kept in mind before and during any interventions involving this region.

The double deep gluteal muscles.

During routine dissections on a 65-year-old male cadaver, we encountered double piriformis, double gemelli superior and inferior, double quadratus femoris muscles in the left gluteal region. The sciatic nerve passed between the lower piriformis and the upper superior gemelli muscles infrapiriform foramen as usual. No other variation was found in the region. This rare variation may be of importance in the radiology and surgery of this region.
