Endometrial adenofibroma: a rare entity.

Endometrial adenofibroma is an uncommon mullerian mixed tumor composed of benign epithelial and mesenchymal components. This tumor must be distinguished from other malignant lesions of the uterus, particularly adenosarcoma. The authors report three cases of endometrial adenofibroma and discuss their clinical and histopathologic features. The tumors were diagnosed in patients 31, 55 and 63 years of age. In all three cases polypoid lesions of 13, 2 and 5 cm, respectively, were found in the uterine cavity. A polypectomy was performed in two cases; one patient underwent hysterectomy. Follow-up was available for two patients who are today alive and well.

[Spermatocytic seminoma with rhabdomyosarcomatous contingent].

INTRODUCTION: Spermatocytic seminoma is a relatively rare testicular tumour, not associated with another germ-cell tumour component and characterized by a favourable prognosis. However, discovery of a sarcomatous contingent modifies the prognosis. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The authors report the case of a 50-year-old man with a history of right testicular swelling for 4 years, gradually increasing in size without vaginal effusion. Tumour markers were normal. Ultrasound demonstrated a very large semi-solid semi-cystic testicular mass with a long axis of 14 cm. Orchidectomy was performed. RESULT: Histological examination and immunohistochemistry of the orchidectomy specimen concluded on spermatocytic seminoma associated with a rhabdomyosarcomatous component. CONCLUSION: Only 12 cases of spermatocytic seminoma with sarcomatous component have been reported in the literature The presence of a sarcomatous component confers a very poor prognosis to spermatocytic seminoma.

[Endometrial stromal nodule: a case report].

The endometrial stromal nodule is the rarest of the endometrial stromal tumours. It is a benign tumour composed of well-differentiated endometrial stromal cells arranged as a well-circumscribed nodule with smooth, non invasive margins. We describe a case of uterine stromal nodule occurring in a 45-year-old woman with history of menometrorrhagia in which case ultrasonography conclude to a leiomyoma. Epidemiology, pathologic aspects, differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis are reviewed.

[Sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary. Report of 3 cases].

Sclerosing Stromal Tumor (SST) is an uncommon benign tumor of the ovary, distinct from thecoma and fibroma because of predominant occurrence below 30 years of age, lack of hormonal manifestations and histologic heterogenity. Three cases of SST occuring in a 15, 26 and 56-year-old females are reported. Review of the literature and clinicopathological features are described in the present article. Histogenesis and differential diagnosis are also discussed.

[Endometrial actinomycosis. Two case reports].

Actinomyces is an aerobic, Gram positive bacteria saprophyte of the genital tract. The endometrial involvement is extremely rare. The authors report two cases of pelvic actinomycosis in a 58 and 55 year old women, the second using intrauterine device for 11 years.

[Ulcerations and their classification by Ismael Jorjani].

Ismael Jorjanio (d. 1137), the Persian physician and philosopher, received his medical training in the most famous schools of the Iranian province of khawarizm. He wrote several works in which he dealt with medicine and the natural sciences. We are interested in the work dealing with the classification of ulcerations as proposed by Ismael Jorjani in function with their clinical characteristics and evolution as well as with their technical aspects.

[Gastric stump MALT lymphoma: a case report and review of the literature].

Gastric stump lymphoma is uncommon. We report a case of MALT lymphoma of the gastric stump occurring in a 65 year-old male. This patient had undergone subtotal gastrectomy for a gastric peptic ulcer at age 51. Histologic findings in the initial gastric specimen showed follicular gastritis with Helicobacter Pylori. This previous gastric surgery cured the ulceration but did not remove the Helicobacter Pylori infection that led to the development of gastric lymphoma.
