Under this Code, performing an illegal abortion or causing a woman to have an abortion are serious offenses reflecting the Mongolian State's interest in population growth. Abortions are allowed only in circumstances specified by medical authorities. The Code also provides for punishment for the use of coercion to force a woman to marry or to prevent her from marrying and for the obstruction of women's equal rights.
