[Training of animals with hypoinsulinemia: systems analysis].

Experiments on rabbits and rats with dithizone- and streptozotocin- induced (stz) diabetes were made to study the learning characteristics in animals with hypoinsulinemia. The analysis of operant feeding training of rabbits showed their higher searching behavior and more successful learning in hypoinsulinemic than those in intact animals. The behavior structure differences could be removed by an injection of insulin one hour before the testing. In experiments on rats with electroshock avoidance training some groups with different learning characteristics were distinguished. Searching activity of stz-rats was lower than that of controls, and the most of stz-rats belonged to a lazy group. The results are discussed according to Anokhin's theory of the functional system.

[The activity of visual cortex neurons during alimentary and defensive behavior].

The reactions of the rabbit visual cortex neurons in response to conditioned light flashes were investigated during the process of repeated changes of the feeding behaviour to the avoidance one. It is demonstrated that one and the same flash evokes different responses of the same neuron while triggering different behaviour.

[Neuronal activity of the sensorimotor area of the rabbit cerebral cortex in zoosocial behavior].

The present study was aimed to investigate the neural activity during competitor relationships in the social interactions and operant feeding behaviour. In experiments on three pairs of rabbits the activity of 32 sensory-motor cortex neurones were analyzed. 21 neurones were found specialized relatively to different acts of social behaviour. They did not participate in provision for "individual" types of behaviour.

[Striate cortex neuron activity in behavior following a change in the visual background].

Neuronal activity in the visual cortex was studied in rabbits during instrumental feeding behaviour in a changing visual environment. Controlled environmental changes were created by changing the orientation of white-black stripes in the rabbit's visual field. A connection was found between the neuronal activity and the stages of goal-oriented behaviour, as well as a reorganization of both neuronal activity and details of acts directed toward intermediate and final achievements of feeding behaviour in the changing visual environment.

[Active avoidance training of rats with experimental diabetes mellitus].

Specific features of training the rats in a new form of defense behavior in insulin deficiency in animal body were under study. Experiments were carried out with 51 male Wistar rats, 24 of these with streptozotocin-induced diabetes. The method of bilateral active avoidance with acoustic signal stimulation, followed by electric stimulation of the skin, was employed. The curves of training, reflecting the time course of the number of effective behavioral acts, were analyzed, and the parameters of the shape of the individual curves of training estimated to classify the animals, making use of analysis of factors. A significant variability of the examined individual parameters of training was associated with the absence of noticeable differences in the approximated results of examinations of intact and streptozotocin-treated rats. Analysis of factors helped single out a group of rats with streptozotocin induced diabetes among the groups of animals that were characterized by similar training parameters, that could sooner learn a new habit after a longer latent period as against intact animals.

[The behavioral development of rats with prenatal hypoinsulinemia].

Influence of the prenatal hypoinsulinaemia (streptozocin diabetes) on the behaviour of the offsprings of Wistar rats was studied from 1 to 20 postnatal days. In experimental pups there were slower weight increment, later eye opening, later development of elementary behavioural acts (grooming elements, rearing, sniffing), and later formation of complex behavioural patterns (investigation of an environment) than in the control offsprings of healthy females.

[The formation of a functional system of social exploration in the early postnatal period in rat development].

The early organization was studied of the littermate search functional system. The locomotor elements of exploratory behavior and development of social activity of single rat pups and in groups of three ones were analyzed under conditions of their isolation from mother and nest. The influence was demonstrated of the littermate presence on realization of different types of movements. The age was experimentally determined at which rat pups were capable for learning to seek for their littermates on the basis of olfactory clues.
