Ammonium nitrogen was studied for its metabolism in the tissues of ruminants in transition from pre- to postnatal development in norm and with disorders in gastroenteric digestion. It is established that the intensity of ammonium genesis and glycolysis processes as well as a cycle of tricarbonic acids change in newborn calves as compared to adult animals. The ammonium toxicosis development in sick animals, which is confirmed by an increase of the ammonia level and intensification of the reactions of ammonium- and ureogenesis in tissues of the gastroenteric tract, liver and kidneys.
Sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and chloride contents in the blood plasma of calves at parturition have been established to correspond to their levels in blood of cows during their calving period. Iron and inorganic phosphorus contents in calves blood plasma appeared to increase and copper content to be lower in this period as compared to postnatal period. By the third day of postnatal ontogenesis sodium concentration in calves blood decreased, copper level increased and the rest indices of water-salts metabolism in calves and adult animals were alike. Digestion disturbances in the calves were accompanied by changes in levels and magnitude of Na+/K+ ratio, magnesium, iron, copper, manganese and zinc contents in blood, liver and kidneys as well as Ca++/Pi ratio in mitochondria and cytosol of liver and jejunum mucose layer cells in comparison with clinically healthy animals.
It has been established that data of acid-base balance in cows' and newborn calves' blood closely correlate with physiological status of animals during their initial days of postnatal ontogenesis and depend on the peculiarities of metabolism in fetus and newborn organisms. Data on the acid-base balance in blood of newborn calves under diarrhea syndrome are discussed from the point of view of the influence of rehydration therapy and "Namacit" preparation on clinical status of animals.
It has been established that mucous membrane of jejunum and stomach tissue of 3-4-day calves are characterized by high intensity of glycolytic and aerobic processes. Digestion disorders with diarrheic symptoms are accompanied by changes in levels and relations in NAD (P)(+)-dependent dehydrogenase metabolites reduction of lactate- and succinate dehydrogenases, alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyltransferase activities in cytoplasm and mitochondria of proximal and distal parts of the jejunum in comparison with clinically normal animals.
It is shown that in summer the level of sodium, potassium and calcium in the colostrum and milk serum of cows for the first ten days of lactation is 1.5-2.0 times higher and the content of inorganic phosphorus lower than the analogous indices for cows in winter-spring. The concentration of iron, copper, zinc and chlorides in the colostrum and milk serum of cows in different seasons is unchanged.
The studies on lactating black-and-white cows have shown that the content of albumins as well as of lactate, ammonia and glutamate in colostrum and milk of cows is higher in winter and spring but the level of beta- and gamma-globulins, citrate and urea is lower than the analogous indices in cows in summer. The concentration of alpha-globulins, oxaloacetate, malate and pyruvate in colostrum and milk did not change with the season.
Cows and newborn (just after the birth, and on the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 10th days after it) calves were tested for the peculiarities of the electrolyte blood composition and acid-base balance under normal and diarrheic conditions. The values of Na+/K+, Cl-/HCO3-, Pn/Ca2+ ratios in the blood serum of sick animals remain unchanged, which testifies to the deep disturbances of the water-salt metabolism in tissues.
The level of pCO2 and bicarbonates in blood and tissues of Cyprinus carpio L. increases with concentration of carbonic acid (HCO3- and pCO2), the other indices of the hydrochemical composition being constant. The value of blood pH is unchanged. In fish with a higher content of carbonic acid in blood the amount of lactate, pyruvate, oxaloacetate, malate, citrate, alpha-ketoglutarate, ammonia, glutamin, free amino acids, total and residual nitrogen rises. Simultaneously the content of urea increases in kidneys, but decrease in gills, whereas in blood and live it does not differ from the corresponding indices of fishes from the control group.
Activation possibilities of redox and biosynthetic processes are studied for lactic cows with their ration supplemented by mineral-ammonium preparation MII-15. In the blood of cows from the experimental group the amount of a number of glycolysis, biocarboxylic cycle, ammonium nitrogen exchange products as well as activity of overamination enzymes vary as compared to control, which testifies to the stimulation of redox processes and protein exchange in tissues. Application of the MII-15 preparation is accompanied by an increase in the lactic productivity of cows by 8-10% on the average.
An increase in the HSO3- concentration and in the carbon dioxide level is accompanied by an increase in the glutaminase, alanine and aspartate aminotransferase activities in the liver and kidneys tissues as well as in the blood serum. The in vitro experiments show that an increased level of CO2 in the incubation medium intensifies the incorporation of 14C from I-14C lysine into proteins of the fish liver.
