Indoor average 222Rn concentrations have been measured in more than 400 houses in Istanbul city. The average radon concentrations in the houses were found to be between 10 Bq m-3 and 260 Bq m-3 and the mean value was 50 Bq m-3.
The effect of beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) on the release of naproxen (1) from fatty suppository bases was investigated. The solid complexes of 1 with beta-CD in a molar ratio of 1:1 were prepared by using the kneading, co-precipitation and grinding method. Witepsol H15 and Massa Estarinum B suppositories were prepared, containing the intact 1 and 1-beta-CD complex, respectively. The in vitro release of 1 from fatty bases was examined. The release data were assessed kinetically. The best fit was obtained with Q vs. the square root of time.
Cyclodextrin polymer (CDP), which is a cross-linked derivative of beta-cyclodextrin, has been used as binder and disintegrating agent in tablet formulation. In this study different tablet formulations of indomethacin, which is a nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drug were prepared by direct compression method. Corn starch, lactose and Esma-Spreng were used besides CDP as disintegrating agent. The hardness, friability, disintegration time and dissolution rate of the tablet were determined. The data were also evaluated kinetically. It was found that CDP is a good disintegrating agent and significantly increased the dissolution rate of the poorly soluble indomethacin.
