The possibility of YAG laser interventions on the posterior capsule of the lens with subsequent argon laser coagulation of the retina in patients with aphakia and artiphakia is studied. The optimal intervention for secondary cataract in patients with artiphakia is circular resection of the posterior capsule. Intraocular lenses prevent such complications as vitreous hernias and allow creating a larger and better shaped opening in the posterior chamber, thus providing a better access for laser coagulation of the retina.
A new method has been developed for diminishing the myopic eye refraction: refraction ring-like tunnel keratoplasty. The technique is simple, virtually atraumatic, and highly effective. It has been introduced in clinical practice. The method consists in placing a ring-shaped collagen thread ++para-centrally in the surface layers of the cornea. Experimental studies of refraction ring-like tunnel keratoplasty included staining the sections with hematoxylin and eosin and Kampos' silver impregnation. Changes in the transplant shape and the host cornea, as well as the terms of their innervation were studied in histologic sections. The results of 32 surgeries are analyzed. Essential reduction of the refraction in the myopic eye--12.0-15.0 diopters, vision acuity improvement in the operated on eyes without correction (in cases without astigmatism), and a stable refraction effect were achieved. The authors recommend the new method of refraction keratoplasty for practice.

A new method of removing the cataracta and vitreous body, called less than hydromonitor greater than is grounded theoretically. It is based on the use of destructive properties of superthin, high-speed liquid spray, affected pathological intraocular structures. Surgical tools and a hydro-drive system have already been developed for the accomplishment of hydromonitoring method. It was successfully tried in experiment and clinic and positive evaluations were given to both the method itself and the facilities for its realization.
A hydromonitoring exposure with a high-velocity pulsed liquid jet aimed into Schlemm's canal lumen and a similar exposure with a syringe at a 60 H pressure on piston were carried out in isolated eyes. Examinations of stained sections showed that hydromonitoring exposure at a pressure of 1 to 5 techn. atm. induced destruction of Schlemm's canal internal wall and cyclodialysis. If a higher pressure was used, corneal stratification was observed. Hydromonitoring exposure at a pressure of less than 1 techn. atm. or an exposure with a syringe induced deformation of Schlemm's canal internal wall, dilatation of intertrabecular fissures, and ruptures of individual trabecular layers.
