Scalp cooling to prevent alopecia was used in 47 patients treated with anthracyclines for various tumors. Good results were obtained though the course included cyclophosphamide which also causes alopecia. Total beneficial (good + satisfactory) effect was recorded in 36 patients (74.4%) who did not need a wig.
The results of treatment of 69 cases of advanced soft tissue sarcomas are presented. Patients were given various drug schemes including cisplatin. Overall response in the study group was 30%. Tumor appeared sensitive to the treatment in 49%. A combination of carminomycin, methotrexate, cyclophosphamide and cisplatin proved to be the most effective (39%). The scheme was effective in both untreated patients and those previously treated with adriamycin. Hematologic toxicity registered in 67% cases was the most severe complication involved in the treatment with the above drug regimen.

In 41 patients with testicular teratoblastoma the cell-mediated immunity was studied by delayed hypersensitivity skin testing. Skin tests for DNCB, PPD, polysaccharide fractions of teratoblastoma and normal human embryonal antigens were made. The DNCB response is shown to correlate with the process spread and patients' survival.
Sixty two patients with metastases of testicular teratoblastoma were subjected to combination chemotherapy. Forty nine patients were treated with an association of bleomycin and vincaalkaloids. An objective effect was gained in 77.5%. Ten patients were treated with a combination of bleomycin, vinblastine, natulane, dactinomycin, an effect being gained in 60% of the patients. The treatment with cis-diamini-dichloroplatinum was effective in 8 of 11 patients (72.7%). In 6 of 10 patients treated with olivomycin and cyclophosphane the effect was obtained (in 60%), when they were resistant to bleomycin combinations. Evidence is presented of high-effectiveness of the combinations including bleomycin as well as of the effect of cis-diamini-dichloroplatinum in treatment of testicular teratoblastomas. With pharmaceutical resistance to bleomycin it is recommended to continue olivomycin and cyclophosphane chemotherapy.
Cell immunity was studied in vitro by means of the blasttransformation reaction (RBT) under the influence of phytohemagglutinin nonspecific mitogen (PHA). The results obtained indicated a correlation between the clinical course of teratoblastoma and the cell immunity intensity, measured by RBT. RBT indices also were correlated well with the efficacy of chemotherapy and were of certain prognostic value.
In 23 patients with teratoblastomas of the testes the authors studied nonspecific reactivity of T-lymphocytes by means of the reaction of spontaneous rosette-formation. A definite correlation was shown between the reaction indices, chorionic gonadotropin, the Abelev reaction and clinical course of the disease. It is concluded that the complex therapy should be conducted under the control of the corresponding immunological indices.
A 22% response rate was achieved in clinical trials of Russian drug cycloplatam in disseminated and hormone-resistant cancer of the prostate. In 80% of cases the drug has improved quality of life of patients with prostatic cancer stage III and IV. Antitumor effect and low toxicity make cycloplatam applicable in combined therapy of prostatic cancer.
