[Brown syndrome in an adult patient with morbus Still].
A 25 year-old woman, known to be suffering from destructive rheumatoid arthritis, was admitted to the hospital due to influenza-like symptoms lasting three weeks. Adult Still's disease was diagnosed. During her disease she developed painful ophthalmoplegia due to tenosynovitis of the superior oblique muscle and tendon sheath (Brown's syndrome). Total resolution was obtained within three weeks of corticosteroid therapy.

Bone scintigraphy in post-traumatic reflex dystrophy.
Twenty-five patients presenting consecutively with persistent pain and tenderness, edema, and vasomotor instability in an extremity following trauma to the same extremity were clinically diagnosed as having early post-traumatic reflex dystrophy (PRD). All underwent scintigraphy with 99mTechnetium methylene diphosphonate before institution of prednisolone treatment. The time lag between the occurrence of the initial trauma and scintigraphic imaging averaged 11.5 weeks. Of 25 scintigrams, 24 showed multiple periarticular accentuation in the affected extremity. Scintigraphy is a useful clinical aid to establish the diagnosis of early PRD.
Trochanteric bursitis. Treatment by corticosteroid injection.
Thirty-six cases of simple trochanteric bursitis were evaluated, particular in regard to corticosteroid injections. The syndrome was mostly chronic, prevalent in older females, interspersed with other diseases. Diagnostic criteria are purely clinical. One or two local corticosteroid injections gave excellent response in two-thirds, improvement in the remaining cases. One-fourth relapsed in 2 years. Trochanteric bursitis should always be considered in hip pain syndromes, as it is so easily relieved.
