[Epidemiological significance, clinico-morphological evaluation and behavior of pathogenetic factors, in asymptomatic chronic carriers of the HBsAg in the La Plata area. Study in voluntary blood donors].

Seric positivity for HBsAg (CIED) investigated on 100.000 volunteer blood donors of La Plata city was 0.239%. Humoral findings on 40 cases only revealed TGO-TGP seric levels over twice the normal in 15 and 10% respectively. On 27 biopsied patients, chronic active hepatitis in one case and chronic persistent hepatitis in another one were found. Non-specific chronic inflammatory changes were seen in 18.5%. Correlation between TGO-TGP levels and histologic damage was generally proved. HBeAg seric positivity in 3/29 cases (10.3%) was accompanied of both raised TGO-TGP levels and some kind of chronic inflammatory change. Statistic high risk was determined for both O-Rh negative blood group and HLA-Bw21 individuals. Diminished cutaneous PPD reactivity without significative alteration of linfocite population was established.

[Celiac disease, histocompatibility antigens and immunologic status].

Researched from immunologic and genetic point of view, 40 patients with Celiac Diseases confirmed and under-treatment. The results were compared with a group of 257 healthy people. The immunologic studies: leucocytes and lymphocytes in blood, the subpopulation of lymphocytes T and B, The immune-reaction studies of immunoglobulin Ig G, Ig M, Ig A and component C III complement didn't show difference between the comparative groups justified perhaps because the group of patients were under-treatment. In the antigen erythrocyte A B O and RHO (A), we can only in those assert that there is an increase of A and B group between the patients than who have O, and they were less exposed to get the disease. Between the histocompatibility antigen, the low presence of A9 B5 B7 BW16 antigen in Celiac patients could be a sign of protection against the disease, contrarily the presence of A1 B8 Dr3 Dr7 could indicate the high risk to get the disease. These finding confirm that the antigen group connected with the major System of histocompatibility, showed the susceptibility to suffer the disease.

Comparative analysis of emergency department treatment of patients with chest pain.

A vital function of the emergency physician is separating patients with chest pain who require intensive immediate treatment from those who require minimal care. The care of 701 patients presenting with chest pain in two Baltimore hospitals was evaluated using medical record data and follow-up questionnaires to discharged patients. Twenty per cent were admitted. There was a significant difference between the two hospitals in admission rates. Thirty-five per cent of the discharged patients felt no better two weeks after emergency department discharge. Plans for further research include a study to clarify the difference in admission rates and the characteristics of individuals who remained symptomatic at two weeks.
