[Pathological gambling].
The case of a patient with a pathological urge to gamble is presented. Until 1990, gambling casinos were prohibited in Denmark. In 1990, a new law was enforced which permitted six casinos in Denmark. Previously, no reports were available in the medical literature concerning pathological gambling in Denmark. The incidence of pathological gambling will probably increase as a consequence of the new law.
