[Cerebral syndrome in chronic nonspecific lung diseases].

An analysis of the results of clinico-electrophysiological examinations of 89 patients suffering from chronic nonspecific inflammatory diseases of the lungs with involvement of the nervous system is presented. The clinical syndromes of the nervous system affections in patients with chronic inflammatory pulmonary diseases are specified. Of importance in the pathogenesis of these affections are progressing hypoxia, intoxication, edema of the brain and the meninges, and the effects of the infectious factors on the vascular walls and the nervous cells.

[Hyperkinesis in acute renal failure (clinico-pathomorphologic studies)].

Results of clinical and pathomorphological examinations of 74 patients with acute renal insufficiency are presented. Various forms of hyperkineses accompanying the grave course of acute renal insufficiency complicated with comatose state are described. The development of hyperkineses in patients with acute renal insufficiency is prognostically unfavourable. A substantial role in the pathogenesis of these neurological disturbances belongs to the water-electrolyte imbalance leading to development of diffuse microcirculatory and degenerative changes in all the divisions of the brain and the spinal cord. The pathomophological changes make it possible to differentiate a syndrome of metencephalic degeneration.

[Allergic encephalomyelopolyradiculoneuritis from a wasp sting (clinico-pathologic report)].

The authors discuss clinico-pathomorphological observations of allergic encephalomyelopolyradiculoneuritis, due to wasp stings. A lethal outcome followed the 14th day of the disease. The clinical picture and morphological symptoms were characterized by allergic reactions of immediate and retarded types leading to severe lesions of the vital organs and the nervous system. Special attention is drawn to a selective lesion of the pallidonigral system conditioning the clinical picture of acutely developing parkinsonism. The polyradiculoneuritis and myelitical syndrome were also expressed.

[Repercussive symptoms in the postinfarct period].

The paper contains observations of repercussive symptoms in 118 patients, who had infarctions and stenocardia. The repercussive symptoms were expressed in sensorial disorders, motor and vegetative-trophical disturbances in the shoulder girdle and upper extremities. The authors analyse the clinical data, ECG, EMG and X-ray examinations. The results of such studies demonstrate that in some cases in the postinfarction period the picture of a repercussive syndrome prevails. Timely diagnostic methods and treatment makes it possible to safeguard the patients from signs of repercussive pathology, promote the removal of secondary reflectory influences in the coronary circulation, which in its turn prevents the development of repeated myocardial infarctions and significantly improves the prognosis in the postinfarction period.

[Cerebral syndromes in acute pneumonias].

The paper deals with an analysis of some clinical and electrophysiological (EEG, EMG, REG) studies in 300 patients with focal and croupous pneumonia accompanied by the nervous system lesions. The authors distinguish clinical syndromes of the nervous system lesions in acute pneumonia. It was possible to demonstrate a certain correlation between the character of electrophysiological data and the severity, localization of pneumonia, and the prevalent lesions in different parts of the nervous system. It was also possible to show the role of acute general cerebral oxygen insufficiency due to disturbed respiration and concomitant acute cardiac insufficiency in the pathogenesis of nervous system changes in acute pneumonia. In such cases there is an anoxic brain anoxia with an insufficient oxygen supply of the cortex, brain stem formations and the spinal cord.

[Changes in the nervous system in patients with paroxysmal tachycardia].

The authors studied changes in the nervous system of 85 patients with paroxysmal tachycardia. Clinico-electrophysiological correlations permitted to detect the diverse symptoms of the nervous system lesions. The examinations established correlations between the focal neurological symptoms, the zone of ischemia in the basin of certain arteris and the EEG and REG data. These correlations point to the localization of dyscirulatory disorders, changes in the functional state of the meso-diencephalo-reticular-stem structures and disturbances of cortico-subcortical-stem relationship.

[Emergency medical services for acute cerebral circulatory disorders].

An analysis of annual reports of the station of ambulance and emergency medical aid during the past 6 years demonstrated a significant increase in the number of patients with acute cerebral circulation disorders due to reorganization of ambulance medical aid services. The authors discuss some scientific-methodological organizational problems of neurological emergency medical services, the tasks of specialized neurological teams questions of the diagnosis of brain stroke and the necessary level of eupplementary studies and treatment measures in the prehospital stage. A certain importance is allocated to a continuity of patient treatment in the hospital and perfection of the system of hospital care to patients with acute disorders of cerebral circulation.
