[The suicidal behavior of adolescents suffering from slowly progressing schizophrenia].

The study aimed at characterization of suicidal behavior of adolescent schizophrenics early at the disease onset. Suicidal actions of such patients often simulate the behavior of depressed, psychopathic subjects, being different from those in that suicidal attempts of schizophrenics are not provoked by psychogenic factors, but by misunderstanding of reality and changes in the mood; schizophrenics usually have several suicidal attempts in the past, have true desire to die or no such a desire against somatically severe suicides, they are schizoid by personality.

[Attempted suicide in depression].

The paper is concerned with persons with depressive symptomatology revealed immediately after an attempt of committing suicide. Three groups of patients were distinguished: with endogenous depression, with reactive (psychotic) and psychogenous depressions. The main causes were established of the difficulties in diagnosing depressions after a suicidal attempt: relative independence of the clinical manifestations of depression on the nosology in the presuicidal period and unmarked intensity of the disorders, capacity of the suicidal act to reduce the manifestations of depression, and the effect of the joy proper of returning to life. In persons who made suicidal attempts, the prognosis of depressions is dependent in a large measure on the disease character.

[Relation between development of the motives for acute suicidal reactions and the course of patients' lives].

Under examination there were 70 subjects who had attempted suicide. The probands showed acute situational reactions. The motives to the suicidal attempts and their relation to the probands' systems of values were examined. It was found that inability to settle adequately some conflicts was due to pathological traits in the character of those persons, as well as to their improper education. Psychogenic situations that touched on vulnerable features of the patients' personality provoked decompensation in the form of the suicidal attempts. The author revealed 57 factors of suicide risk and developed a method for determining the probability of primary and repeated suicidal reactions.
