HLA and glioma.

HLA typing of 80 glioma patients was determined and the antigen frequencies were compared with 176 normal controls. Increased phenotypic frequencies of Bw35 and DRw1 were observed, but when P values were corrected by the number of antigens tested (35), the results were no longer significant.

[Cerebrospinal fluid spread of ependymomas].

A series of twentyseven ependymomas, four of which made subarachnoid implantation, is reported. Two of these were malignant, having their origin in the posterior fossa and two benign, having their origin in the spinal cord. The cytology in the cerebrospinal fluid of these cases is described.

[Radioisotope diagnosis of brain death].

In the light of 6 examples the authors emphasize the value and reliability of radionuclide angiography in determining the absence of cerebral perfusion, i.e., brain death.

Perangiographic rupture of a right posterior communicating artery aneurysm.

Contrast material was seen to extravasate twice from a posterior communicating arterial aneurysm during injection of the internal carotid artery under local anesthesia. The patient made full recovery. The aneurysm was then successfully clipped. The authors review related reports. The increase in distal arterial pressure is thought to be the cause of the aneurysmal rupture.

[Korsakoff's syndrome and transitory cortical blindness following vetebral angiography].

Neurological complications of vertebral angiography are described with particular emphasis on memory and visual deficits. The material consists of 21 instances of such complications out of a total of 832 vertebral angiographies. A brief account is given of the posterior cerebral artery territory, which makes it possible to establish anatomo-clinical correlations. The pathogeny of the disorder is discussed.

[Abnormal absence of displacement of the cerebral median line].

The angiographic cerebral midline is described. It is pointed out that the midline may be abnormally undisplaced despite the presence of a unilateral or bilateral expansive lesion. The causes of such abnormal non-displacement of the midline are reviewed in the light of examples, and the importance is stressed of bilateral carotid angiograms, sometimes with oblique series, in the case of head injuries and certain tumors.
