[Hysterectomy following a cesarean section complicated by hypotonic hemorrhage].

The features of histories, course of pregnancy and delivery were analyzed in 65 females with hypotonic bleeding developed during cesarean section. The bleeding resulted in uterine extirpation. The factors that predisposed to the abnormality were revealed. Morphological examination of uterine specimens demonstrated that in 95% hypotonic bleedings had been due to profound pathomorphological changes in the myometrium as ones occurred prior to pregnancy and developed during pregnancy and labor. Accordingly, long-term and ineffective treatment of hypotonic bleeding is frequently unfounded as in most cases only ablation of the uterus may be the sole means of hemostasis.

[Heart involvement in multiple myeloma].

The results of the myocardial functional capacity study in 54 patients with multiple myeloma were compared with the data of clinical and anatomopathologic investigations. No specific clinico-functional signs of cardiac affection in multiple myeloma, having differential diagnostic importance, were revealed. Specific affection of the heart was detected in 30% of cases during anatomopathologic investigations.

[Tuberculosis and its sequelae as a cause of death of patients in a multi-profile hospital].

The intravital diagnosis was established only in 20 patients (19.2 percent) out of 104 persons who died from tuberculosis and its sequelae over the last 20 years at the general hospital. The diagnostic errors were mainly accounted for by the difficulties in the recognition of the acute and generalized patterns of tuberculosis, by grave condition of the patients admitted to the hospital, by predominance among the patients of elderly persons with a number of concomitant diseases, by inadequate examination of the patients (the lack of x-ray, bacteriological and instrumental studies) as well as by the lack of attention on the part of internists to the clinical manifestations of tuberculosis today.

[Analysis of clinico-pathological diagnostic discrepancies based on the autopsy data from the S.P. Botkin Hospital].

The author outlines the experience gained in the analysis of the discrepancies occurring between clinical and autopsy diagnoses by the records of a pathologic department of a general hospital. The discrepancies are considered for surgical and therapeutic units. The reasons underlying the discrepancies were investigated by conventional criteria and those elaborated by the experts committee specially entrusted with relevant problems.

[Fibrinolytic properties of the morphological structures of the kidneys].

A histochemical method of fibrinolysis microautography was used to study the fibrinolytic activity of the kidneys. The authors examined kidneys from 22 normal dogs and 10 human cadavers. In kidneys of normal dogs and humans dead of various causes, the fibrinolytic activity was observed in the glomeruli, veins and arteries, capillaries of the medullary stroma and of the urinary tract walls, transitional epithelium of the pelvis, ureter, and urinary bladder.

[Morphologic changes in the lungs in terminal states in cases of death from eclampsia].

Morphological examinations of the lungs were done in terminal states in cases of death of parturients due to eclampsia. Under current conditions of the course of eclampsia the acute respiratory insufficiency is one of the main causes aggravating the course of eclamptic coma. The brain and lungs are the main "shock organs" in terminal states of parturients dying of eclampsia. Changes in the lungs depend on the severity of the process and its duration. The leading role of the acid-aspiration syndrome and central hemodynamics disorders in the pathogenesis of pneumonias was established.
