Use of chemiluminescent method for evaluation of postoperative adhesion formation after reproductive pelvic surgery: an experimental study.

Surgery on the uterine horns was performed on 160 animals with application of catgut (CG) and prolene (PN), as well as the assisting application of interceed (TC 7) and fibrin glue (FG). The data of chemiluminescence (CL) of peritoneal phagocytes (PP) were compared with the results of evaluation of reparative wound regeneration. It was determined that the initial level and spontaneous CL activity of phagocytes in healthy animals was low or there were none of them that testified to a quiet cellular state. The maximal activating effect on PP was produced by CG, less so by FG, even less by TC 7, and the least by PN.

Comparative effects of different methods of anastomosis on rat uterine horn.

This study compares the results of microsurgical uterine horn anastomosis performed using fibrin glue (FK-1), 8/0 Prolene sutures, or fibrin glue in combination with 8/0 Prolene sutures. Thirty-two rats were divided into three groups. Three results were studied: frequency of adhesion formation in the area of anastomosis, uterine horn patency, and pregnancy rates. Compared with microsurgical sutures, fibrin glue used for the anastomosis of uterine horns in rats results in identical pregnancy and patency rates. Moreover, the formation of adhesions was significantly lower and the duration of surgery was shortened.

Use of fibrin glue in obstetrics and gynecology: a review of the literature.

Most authors consider the principal advantage of FG anastomoses (compared to microsurgical anastomoses) to be shorter operating time, reduced surgical trauma to oviduct stumps, and absence of tissue ischemia. These features promote reparative regeneration and decrease adhesion formation, resulting in complete recanalization of fallopian tubes. To date, the majority of work on FG is confined to the experimental development of surgical techniques. Investigations in reconstructive gynecological surgery are quite uncommon. The physical properties of FG and the positive results of available experimental studies suggest that further development of surgical techniques using FG in obstetrics and gynecology is worthwhile.

Reproductive function after reconstructive surgery on rat uterine horns.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the effectiveness of tuboplasty procedures employing fibrin glue. METHODS: Experimental tuboplasty operations were performed on 63 rats using biological glues (fibrin glue--"Beriplast" Behring; "FK-1", Russia) and microsuture materials. Uterine horn patency, adhesion formation, and other changes at the site of anastomosis, as well as pregnancy rate and embryonal characteristics, were assessed. CONCLUSIONS: We confirmed the effectiveness of fibrin glue application in reconstructive surgery on uterine horns, and documented no significant differences between microsuture and sutureless anastomoses with regard to pregnancy rates (80 and 83.3%, respectively).
