[Occupational aging (biological age modeling)].

Based on workers' biologic age, the authors created a systemic model of general and occupational ablebodiedness and tested the model on selective determination of biologic age among workers of various Ukrainian regions. The results proved increase in occupational aging of the population. General and occupational ablebodiedness in males of the select was lower than that in the females. Occupational ablebodiedness of population, especially of males, is considerably decreased. The latter evidence is a function of economic circumstances: heavy, hazardous and dangerous work conditions hardly compensated by payments.

[The health status assessment in miners and metal workers based on immunological and bacteriological criteria].

Immunologic and bacteriologic criteria to evaluate health state in miners and metallurgists are defined. These criteria are specific agglomeration of leukocytes, lysozyme level in saliva, phagocytic activity of neutrophils and parameter of deep skin microbes. These criteria could be recommended as the most informative and simple in mass screening and express evaluation of health state in industrial workers.

[The efficacy of methods for the differentiated health rehabilitation of miners in risk groups for disease development].

Of the miners in poor health, groups have been identified at high risk for development of respiratory, cardiovascular, and neural pathologies (n = 30). Treatment and prophylactic complexes were differentiated and implemented in the miners while on vacation in a sanatorium-preventorium setting. Efficacies are shown of differentiated methods for promotion of the health of those miners having been assigned to different groups at risk for development of pathologies of the respiratory organs, the cardiovascular, and the nervous system while on tariff vacation. The promotion-of-health courses have led to normalization of the immune and biochemical statuses in 68 percent of miners secondary to activation of chief links of cell-mediated, humoral immunity, factors of nonspecific bodily resistance and parameters for fat metabolism.

[Informative value of several clinical, anamnestic, social, hygienic and epidemiologic parameters of immunologic deficiency risk in miners with frequent and long-lasting acute respiratory viral infections].

The authors studied poll results and medical documents of miners with frequent and long acute respiratory viral infections and apparently healthy ones in order to reveal clinical, anamnestic, social, hygienic and epidemiologic risk factors for immune deficiency. As a result, the authors identified some signs of immune pathologic conditions (pulmonary diseases, upper respiratory tract disorders, skin lesions) among the miners with frequent and long acute respiratory viral infections. Such factors as presence of children or relatives who are frequently ill, alcohol abuse, smoking and unfavorable living conditions result in weaker immune resistance of the miners with frequent and long acute respiratory viral infections.

[Hygienic verification of the ASKORS automated system for preclinical diagnosis in Donets Basin mines].

Automated system ASKORS for medical risk assessment is non-laborious and highly informative method of preclinical diagnosis, that enables to determine medical risk groups in accordance with specific features of medical examination. Data obtained by ASKORS in examination of the staffers in Donbass mines provides important hygienic information on association of health state and performance of the workers with their work conditions. Application of ASKORS as first preclinical diagnostic tool enables to avoid meticulous medical screening of the working populations subjected to-mandatory medical examinations. With that, the efficacy and quality of medical examinations are believed to increase. ASKORS (or its competitive analog) can become an important means monitoring health state and performance among workers engaged into Ukrainian industry, especially for assessment of medical risk.

[Supplementary criteria of evaluation of health status in selecting the personnel for work in coal mines].

200 newly-engaged young miners were medically examined in an outpatient department. The routine examination techniques were supplemented with studies of the changes after 2 minute-long inhalations of 0.6% acetylcholine chloride and mine dust (78 mg/m3), hemodynamics and electrocardiography indices, as well as the indices of the immunologic and hormonal state. Established was diversified manifestations of the respiratory tract's response to the aerogenic irritations, combined with deviations in the immunologic state indices. The studies provide basis for further improvements in the preventive examination techniques for workers in coal-mining industries.

[Immunoreactivity of patients with pathology of the liver, gallbladder and biliary tract].

In a work, the comparative analysis of the state of immunological reactivity in 25 patients with pathology of the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts and in 25 healthy subjects is presented. In patients, T-lymphocytopenia, impaired ratio of subpopulations of the helpers and suppressors, increase in the absorptive and metabolic activity of neutrophilic granulocytes, lysozyme activity of the blood serum, decrease in the immunoglobulin G content are observed.

[The individual selection of immunomodulating and vitamin preparations for miners who are frequently ill with ARVI].

Proper selection of immunomodulating and vitamin preparations in those miners often ill with ARVI promotes to a great extent both dispelling immunologic disbalance in the cellular link of immunity and normalization of the functional state. But this action is less effective in respect of specific and unspecific humoral factors of the immune system. Individual assessment of effectiveness of immunomodulating and vitamin preparations in vitro tests is regarded as a justified and promising tool enabling a relevant preparation endowed with stimulating effect to be selected and prescription of those substances sensibilizing the organism of the always ailing miners to be excluded, thus ensuring maximum immunomodulating effect.
