[Comments on the further development of the international classification of pneumoconiosis (author's transl)].

The latest version of the international classification of pneumoconiosis by the International Labour Office (ILO) in Geneva is presented, ie "ILO 1980 International Classification of X-Ray Findings in Pneumoconiosis", and is tabulated in detail. In connection with the specified modifications of the previous classification (ILO U/C 1971) initial critical assessments are made with particular reference also to the adaptation to conditions prevailing specifically in the Federal Republic of Germany.

[Breast parenchymal patterns and carcinoma risks (author's transl)].

Wolfe has suggested that there is a correlation between the pattern of the breast parenchyma and the risk of a carcinoma. This has been confirmed by some authors and denied by others. Our investigations of 905 cases could not confirm Wolfe's thesis and suggested his results were due to selection of cases. Our findings confirm the opinion expressed several times in the literature that the women with a breast parenchymal pattern P2 and DY regarded by Wolfe as high risk patients are not distinguished by an increased risk, but by the fact that existing carcinomas tend to be missed by radiologists.

[Mass radiography via mammography in women with enhanced risk of cancer of the breast (author's transl)].

Mammographic and clinical examination of 1,751 women with one or several risk factors of the screening programme revealed 5.2% carcinomas but only 1.6% occult carcinomas. The results are not better than those of mass radiographies of non-selected groups of women. The article discusses the course of the examination, radiation load, frequency rates of mastopathies and their relation to endocrinological factors, as well as cost and procedure.

[Percutaneous demonstration of lactiferous ducts in benign breast tumours. The use of contrast in the diagnosis of breast tumours such as fibroadenomas and proliferative mastopathies (author's transl)].

A new method is described which makes it possible to demonstrate the duct system in fibroadenomas and mastopathies by percutaneous injection of contrast. In this way, the pre-operative diagnosis of benign breast tumours can be confirmed. The technique is described and the early results are illustrated.

[Endocrine ophthalmopathy. Clinical symptoms, classification, diagnostic classification, indications for treatment (author's transl)].

The clinical aspects and classification of "endocrine ophthalmopathy" were described. The clinical picture is of importance for the physician in nuclear medicine who is involved with the diagnosis and therapy of hyperthyroidism. In vivo and in vitro investigations in nuclear medicine regarding the classification of ophthalmic findings are derived from disturbances in control of the regulatory systems of the hypothalmas-pituitary-thyroid which are parallel to the ophthalmic processes. The clinical forms of endocrine ophthalmopathy and the thyroid findings which accompany it were systematized and an appropriate therapeutic procedure for the respective anomaly was described.
