[3',5'-cAMP phosphodiesterase inhibitors in the combined treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis].

A study was made of clinical effectiveness and mechanism of action of the inhibitor of the specific 3',5'-cAMP phosphodiesterase papaverine in a therapeutic complex of measures designed to treat RA patients involving an immunodepressive preparation free from any cytopenic effect prospidin as a basic mediator. It has been shown that the papaverine antiarthritic action is associated with its positive effects on the unspecific component of the immune-complex inflammation, viz. processes of lipid peroxidation, activity of the antioxidant system of defence as well as on the vascular tone and microcirculation. All this improves tissue metabolism, and in this way enhances efficiency of RA basic therapy.

[The transport function of the serum albumin in patients with ischemic heart disease and in persons with risk factors for its occurrence].

Persons of the ischemic heart diseases risk group and patients with ischemic heart disease showed a reduction of the transport function of serum albumin that correlated with the sex and age of examined persons, presence of that of another risk factor of ischemic heart disease as well as with its clinical form of manifestation. Established were correlations between the level of hypercholesterolemia and state of the transport function of serum albumin and a positive effect of sex hormones on the transport function of serum albumin. The obtained data suggest a major role of protein metabolism in the pathogenesis of ischemic heart disease.

[Current problems in the primary prevention of diseases of the internal organs].

The authors submit an individualized programme of prophylactic and health promotion measures to be instituted on the basis of assessment of the environmental factors impact, health status (age, sex, nationality etc.), pattern of rebuilding in the principal homeostatic systems. Participation of scientists, physicians-practitioners, every individual is essential in the realization of the programme, but there is no alternative to it. A problem of such an importance as health and future of the nation warrants the state institutes of power to be involved to solve it.

[Reducing diet therapy in the correction of the immune disorders in patients with primary osteoarthrosis].

Effects of 14-21-day courses of reducing diet on function of T- and B-system immunity were studied in 35 patients with primary osteoarthrosis, while effects of food deprivation on nonspecific effector system of immune defense and local immune reactions were studied in experiment on R. Altman arthrosis model. It was proved that due to the above fasting the articular syndrome by clinical and laboratory criteria was much relieved. This positive effect is explained by modulating action of diet therapy on T- and B-immunity in combination with stimulation of activity of nonspecific effector system of immune defense. The dependence of the above changes on the treatment period are determined.
