[Evaluation of antibacterial activity of apex-phoresis].

Effects of apex-phoresis on dental root canal microflora were studied and optimal dosage parameters were determined. Microbiological study in vitro has established that optimal antibacterial effect was achieved with the apex-phoresis dosage in the range between 2.5-5 mA/min. Study of the effects of apex-phoresis on dental root canal microflora in vivo disclosed its high antibacterial activity both in cases of pulpitis and destructive forms of chronic periodontitis. For the first time the data are confirmed by molecular-genetic method of detection of hard to cultivate virulent anaerobic bacteria. The results of the study allow to recommend apex-phoresis for wide use in clinical practice as an effective way to sterilize difficult to traverse dental root canals.

[The role of control over microcirculation in millimetric wave therapy of acute destructive pancreatitis].

Microcirculatory reaction to millimetric waves (5.6, 7.1 and 4.9 mm) was studied in 78 patients with acute destructive pancreatitis using laser doppler flowmetry. The 4.9 mm waves proved most effective. As such waves have a normalizing effect on capillary blood flow, they can be used at early stages of the disease. The method allows control of individual reaction of the patient to millimetric waves and, therefore, facilitates the decision on its application.

[The use of a fluctuating current in the combined therapy of periodontitis].

Multiple-modality treatment of 63 patients with periodontitis included removal of dental deposit, curettage, if indicated, followed by fluctuating current treatment. The control group was made up of 25 patients in whom dental deposit was removed and oral hygiene was followed up. The periodontal status was assessed by clinical, functional, and morphologic methods. Liquidation of gingival inflammation, resultant from multiple-modality treatment, was associated with normalization of the regional hemodynamics in periodontal tissues.

[The use of a supersonic-frequency current in treating inflammatory periodontal diseases].

The impact of supersonic-frequency current (SFC) on the periodontium was investigated in 76 patients with chronic catarrhal gingivitis and light to mild periodontitis. SFC was shown to promote the disappearance or reduction of the size of inflammatory focus due to normalization or improvement in periodontal microcirculation. Clinical improvement was noted in 86% of the patients with chronic catarrhal gingivitis and in 88% of light periodontitis and 96% of mild periodontitis patients.

[Activity of antifibrinolytics when administered using a direct current].

Tests conducted on rabbits demonstrated a high effectiveness of fibrinolysis inhibitos (tracilol, E-aminocapronic acid) with their electrophoresis as compared with their intravenous administration. The absence of any influence of direct current on the activity of contrical, tracilol and E-ACA was ascertained.
