A study was made of blood hydrocortisone content for a period of 24 hours in the patients with congenital diseases of the heart before and after the operation, in patients with acute respiratory disease, severe pneumonia, and also with acute laryngeal stenosis of influenzal etiology. It was revealed that under pathological conditions the adrenal cortex took part in the compensatory reactions of the organism at any time of the day. As a result of this hydrocortisone concentration is steadily maintained at a definite level in the course of the 24 hours. These changes depended on the intensity of the stressor and the severity of metabolic disturbances in the organism.

[The relationship between certain phenotypic traits and the function of individual links of immunity in children with acute pneumonia].

While studying immunogenetic indexes in 250 children with acute pneumonia, it is revealed that there is a connection between their phenotypic peculiarities (blood group B/III/, MN, P--dry type of ear-wax, low indexes of mass of the body and high ones of the body length during birth) and indexes of T-lymphocytes and immunoglobulins of blood serum A, M, G. It has permitted recommending to perform purposeful therapeutic and prophylactic measures including immunocorrection for these children.

[A fluorescent method of determining aldosterone in urine].

The authors suggest a method of aldosterone determination in the urine. Aldosterone is extracted from the sample and purified with the aid of columnar and thin-layer chromatography on silicagel. Aldosterone is distinctly identified in ultraviolet light on the chromatogram by its green fluorescence developing after sprinkling the plate with phosphoric acid and its subsequent heating. Quantitative determination is carried out by the measurement of the intensity of aldosterone fluorescence in sulfuric acid.
