[Antithesis to principles underlying formation of occupational medicine services].

Basing a personal point of view, the author doubts that creation of "Industrial medicine" service at the enterprises is expedient for now. The author is concerned that the service could be transformed into closed official establishment having no power of state service for sanitary and epidemiologic supervision. Organizational and economic difficulties connected with construction of such service are also stressed. This point of view underestimates considerable experience accumulated by the national medical practice and the difficulties associated with professional training of the specialists in industrial hygiene.

[Human ecology and hygiene].

Theoretical aspects of the human ecology, its place and significance in solution of biosphere protection problems are discussed. "Human ecology", "socioecology", interrelations of the terms with hygiene were also noted. Author supported the homocentric conception in the ecology problem aricing. Special attention was paid to the ecological education of physicians.

[Improvement in standardization of hazardous substances].

The article traces the reasons accounting for limitations in practical application of MACs, proposes alternative approaches to MAC norming with wider use of computer technology, epidemiological surveys, particularly in ecologically unfavourable areas. It is stressed that hazardous substances norming must be performed by the hygienists.
