[Clinico-morphological characteristics of the family of diseases: cytomegalic inclusion disease, iatrogenic thesaurismosis and septicemia].

The clinicomorphological manifestations of iatrogenic thesaurismosis that developed because of infusion therapy of patients with plasma substitutes were studied using autopsy and operative material from 44 deceased and 2 operated children aged 1 month to 3 years. An experimental disease was obtained in 16 rabbits. Cytomegalia was discovered in 23 deceased children with iatrogenic thesaurismosis and sepsis in 18 children. In 12 cases, sepsis was of iatrogenic nature. An assumption is worded about the three-member family of those diseases undergoing substantial pathomorphism.

[Morphology and problems of the morphogenesis of cytomegalic sialadenitis].

Two varieties of nodular sialadenitis, acute nodular (15%) and chronic with exacerbation of the nodular type (19%), were distinguished basing on analysis of the material from 880 children dead from cytomegaly. Parotid glands were examined electron-microscopically in 2 cass of generalized and 6 cases of localized cytomegaloviral infection. Basing on the histoenzymochemical data published earlier, the etiological role of cytomegalovirus in the development of nodular infiltrates was substantiated and the functional activity of cytomegalic cells in virus reproduction and isolation shown. Diagnostic importance of nodular infiltrates was stressed. Morphological manifestations of cytomegalovirus reproduction were described.

[Clinico-morphological characteristics of the sequelae of the parenteral administration of gemodes and polyglucin to children].

In 38 dead children and in a resected lung of an operated child, the alterations were discovered, connected with accumulation in tissues of hemodez and polyglucin after their parenteral administration. The same picture of the so-called iatrogenic thesaurosis was reproduced in 16 rabbits that received the above preparations intravenously. Three degrees of accumulation were distinguished which directly depended on the dose and time of synthetic plasma substituents administration, both on clinical and experimental material. It is recommended to take into consideration the alterations revealed in this study in the diagnosis of some enzymo- and lymphadenopaties, giant-cell vasculitis, and granulomatous processes. The secondary immunodeficiency is suggested in children with iatrogenic thesaurosis, on the basis of the disease histories and morphological data.

[Morphological and pathogenetic problems of cytomegaly].

Cytomegalia was detected in 145 (17.6%) out of 823 fatal cases in children at autopsy. The analysis of the material suggests that the pattern of tissue reactions in this infection depends upon the immunologic responsiveness of the host entirely. In the process of maturation of the organs of immunity system, lymphohistiocytic infiltration of stroma becomes nodular, and cytomegalic metamorphosis of the cells is inhibited down to complete cessation. Histological, histochemical, and histoenzymatic methods were used to study in detail the structure of the nodular infiltrate which was found to belong to reactions of delayed type hypersensitivity. Original views concerning the mechanism of the development of cytomegalic sialoadenitis are presented.

[Patterns of cytomegaly generalization and its pathomorphological diagnosis].

On the basis of morphological examinations of 576 cases of cytomegalia, several summarizing statements concerning the regularities of its generalization are presented. According to the nature of tissue reactions in the salivary glands which correlatively depend on the status of immunogenesis organs and the form of the disease, 4 morphological types of cytomegalic sialoadenitis are distinguished: nodular, immunodeficient, persisting, and hemopoietic. It is recommended that the discovered regularities be taken into consideration in autopsy practice which will permit to minimize the cases of unrecognized generalization of the infection.

[Perinatal anatomopathological diagnosis].

The authors propose a synthetic scheme of perinatal anatomo-pathological diagnosis which, on the one hand, contains conventional concepts of wide interpretation of basic disease in mono-, bi- and multicausal genesis of the disease and death and, on the other hand, the order of placing clinical data about mother's diseases, complications of pregnancy and delivery, information about external causes of the child's (fetus's) death and placenta pathology. Nosological characteristics of "Single states arising in perinatal period" (class XVI, POO-P96 rubrics) are presented and 10 principles of their uniform explanation in documentation of perinatal anatomo-pathological diagnosis are formulated.

[Morphological diagnosis of intrauterine chlamydia infection and its clinico-anatomical characteristics].

Clinicomorphological characteristics of intrauterine chlamydiasis (IUC) are given. The authors describe a cottonwool-like meningochorioiditis the observation of which at necropsy allows IUC suspection. Chlamydial etiology of this condition is confirmed by means of electron microscopy and immunofluorescence. Fibroblast proliferation of the pia mater followed by intensive fibrillogenesis plays a most important role in morphogenesis of cottonwool-like nodules. The occurrence of IUC at the necropsies varies depending on the age of foetuses and newborns from 6.2 to 38.7%.
