[Pseudotumoral amyloidosis of the orbit].

A case of orbital amyloid pseudotumour is reported; this rare condition typically present as a ptosis followed by slowly growing orbital neoplasm, in middle-aged women. CT-scan disclose an extra-conal, extra-osseous, calcified mass; preoperative diagnosis of this rare condition might help in avoiding recurrence, probably due to incomplete excision. Pathophysiology of these amyloid deposits remain unknown.

[Neuropathy and cerebellar syndrome induced by amiodarone].

A 62 year old man developed a neuropathy after several months of treatment with amiodarone. The clinical picture was atypical in that it associated a polyradiculoneuritis with cell-protein dissociation and an axial and peripheral cerebellar syndrome. Pathology of muscle and nerve showed dense inclusions in Schwann cell cytoplasm and in pericytes, highly suggestive of fat inclusions. Discontinuation of amiodarone therapy resulted in a slow regression of disorders. Diabetes mellitus developed. Several pathogenic hypotheses are proposed.

[Anticholinergics during neuroleptic treatment. Value and withdrawal].

In a study on 144 chronic psychotic patients treated with neuroleptics, the authors tried to define a therapeutic schedule for anti-cholinergic drugs use to control parkinsonism induced by anti-psychotic drugs. Systematic treatment by anti-cholinergic drugs seems to be useless, even dangerous, and, if they have to be employed, the treatment must not exceed six months. The authors emphasize and analyse through the literature, the problems of drug abuse, withdrawal and psychological dependence with anti-parkinsonian drugs and their neurochemical effects.
