Stay of the rats in barochamber under 0.3 MPa oxygen during 2 hrs induced separate sharp waves with no generalisation, the electron microscopic changes expressing activation of compensatory-adaptive processes. The generalisation of seizure activity over the cortex at 0.7 MPa oxygen affects a part of neuronal pool due, probably, to irreversible changes in inhibitory axosomatic synapses.
Computed morphometry proved activation of neocortex layer III-V axosomatic synapses. This is evident from an increase in the mean plasmalemma length, that in the active synapse zones on neurone bodies and width of the synaptic cleft, this being induced by a single intraperitoneal administration of delta-sleep-inducing peptide. The activation of the axosomatic synapses correlates with elevated GABA levels in the cerebral hemispheres cortex.

It has been demonstrated that myelopeptide is capable of preventing some ultrastructural alterations that take place in the brain in response to intravenous lipopolysaccharide injection by neuronal receptor blockade.
A kidney tumour in a 36 year old female is described. The tumor was soft, of gray-brown color, size 12 x 11 cm. Histological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural findings have demonstrated the signs of biphasic epithelial and mesenchymal cell differentiation. These data allowed the authors to define this tumor as a renal carcinosarcoma. Histogenesis of this tumor and differential diagnosis with other malignant renal tumors are discussed.
The performed studies have shown that injection of DSIP causes an activation of nuclear apparatus and plastic metabolism in III-Y layer of the rat cerebral cortex. The activation of axo-axon and axosomatic synapses indicates the modulation of inhibitory processes in the cerebral cortex.
The work is devoted to the ultrastructural investigation of the state of the sensomotor cortex neurons after intravenous and intracisternal administration of endotoxin. The evidences are presented concerning ultrastructural alterations in mitochondria and the presence of compensatory reaction in them after intravenous injection of endotoxin. Besides, coated vesicles and subsurface cisternae whose formation is induced by the endotoxin action have been studied.
Qualitative estimation and quantitative morphometry of ultrastructural changes in layers III, IV, and V in rat sensomotorial cortex after delta-sleep-inducing peptide administration, provides an evidence of multiplication of active inhibitory synapses induced by DSIP. The newly activated synapses may form an axo-somatic synaptic pool participating in optimization of the balance of excitement and inhibition processes in sensomotorial cortex.
