Some research into choledochic prosthesis with lyophilised and siliconated dura mater has been concluded. Cholangiographic and histological controls one year after intervention are reported.
Personal experience with the application of choledochal prosthese in freeze-dried, siliconed dura mater is reported. The experimental model set up permitted the implantation of such a prosthesis in the rat. Retrograde cholangiography and histological examination revealed the total patency of the prosthesis in the long term, and complete epithelialisation.
A method for the extraction and gaschromatographic determination of 3alpha-hydroxy-5alpha-pregnane-11,20-dione (alphaxalone, main active component of Althesin) in microgram amount in plasma and tissues is described. The slow i.v. infusion of Althesin in the rat gives uniform alphaxalone distribution in tissues, slight localization in the fat and brain levels comparable to plasma concentration.
