[Possibilities of abdominal ultrasonic diagnosis in the clinical follow up of malignant lymphomas].

Authors performed follow-up abdominal ultrasound examinations in malignant lymphomas, with abdominal lymphoid masses, during chemotherapeutic treatment. It was measured the volume-change of the examined abdominal lymphoid masses. Authors elaborated a new method, basing upon pseudocolour-coding of the ultrasonic picture. With the use of this method it became possible to evaluate quantitatively the change of internal echo-structure of abdominal lymphoid masses during the treatment. The change in the time of the measured structural parameteres was represented graphically. In the opinion of authors, the change of structural parameteres shows a characteristic connection with the course of the disease. The clinically evident relaps can be proceded more weeks by an unfavourable trend in the change of ultrasonic structure parameters. According to the results of the authors, the abdominal ultrasound diagnostic, complemented with the method of pseudocolour-coding can successfully help the clinical follow-up of malignant lymphomas.

Abdominal Neoplasms

[Effects of direct laser radiation on human lymphocytes (author's transl)].

In vitro experiments with human lymphocytes showed that if irradiations with coherent light of a He-Ne-laser were performed an immune suppressor effect is obtained. Using incoherent light of the same wavelength, effects only occur (80% compared to the laser) if the light is linear polarized.

Cell Migration Inhibition

On reversible changes in the steady state ion-conductance of the Ranvier node membrane under low frequency sound fields.

The influence of sound waves on the stationary membrane conductivity of the axon membrane in myelinated nerve was investigated. Sound fields with frequencies within the auditory limit shift the transition voltage Vtr and correspondingly the threshold voltage of the action potential in polarisation direction. The results indicate that these changes of the electrical membrane behavior are due to a direct mechanical interaction between low frequency sound fields and membrane structure.

Holographic displays for computer assisted tomography.

Generalized holographic methods may be used to provide three-dimensional displays from a series of adjacent tomograms. Two such methods are described. In the first method, the tomograms are simultaneously recorded as a single "space-multiplex" hologram, which thus reproduces the N images in proper relation to each other in space. In the second method, a single hologram of the total volume is theoretically synthesized.

A critical analysis of ultrasonic therapy.

The authors have examined the effect of ultrasonic irradiation on myopy. Fourty-two eyes of 24 patients were treated. In more than 76% of the cases, there was an average decrease of 1.04 D in refraction. When myopy was accompanied by astigmatism, this also decreased or even disappeared.

Adolescent

Ultrasonic irradiation and pupillary response.

The effect of ultrasonic irradiation on the pupillary response was investigated over an intensity range from 0.1-1.5 W cm-2 measured at the surface of the applicator head at frequencies of 0.8 and 2.4 MHz.

Humans

Multiplexing ultrasonic wave fronts by holoraphy.

Easily viewable, three-dimensional images have been produced from information derived from the passage of sound through the head of a living human subject. In this technique a new form of holographic multiplexing is used to construct the three-dimensional image from two-dimensional ultrasonic B-scans taken in many separated planes.
