[Quality, the future for food agriculture! Producers, processors, consumers, same battle...].

For multi-pesticides residue analysis in foods and to win the consumers, it's necessary to work with many analytical tools--HPLC-UV/DAD-FLU, GLC-ECD, GLC-NPD & GC-MS--but the efficiency result from extraction and clean-up. On the other hand, the responsibility of "Producers-Manufacturers-Consumers"'s bond is essential for the consumer and a "ecologico-toxico-economical" safety for the Producers-Manufacturers to target low residues of pesticides.

Alcoholism after sixty.

The elderly demonstrate unique characteristics and behavior in the development of alcohol abuse. A significant number of persons begin drinking heavily after age 60. The excessive drinking is thought to be a coping mechanism and may reflect a concept called "learned helplessness." Treatment of the elderly alcoholic can be beneficial after the problem of alcohol abuse is recognized.

Evaluation of a dereverberation technique with normal and impaired listeners.

Increasing amounts of room reverberation generally reduce speech intelligibility for both normal and sensorineurally impaired listeners--with the latter group suffering proportionately more. We have implemented a two-input dereverberation technique (Allen et al., 1977) in order to evaluate whether intelligibility scores can be improved by this processing. Reverberated and dereverberated (processed) monosyllable, CVC words were presented monaurally to normal and impaired listeners in both a 2AFC test and an open-response test. Preliminary results for both groups indicate that although perceived and measured reverberation time is clearly reduced by processing, mean recognition scores--evaluated over words and phonemes--are not significantly altered.
