[Laparoscopic laser cholecystectomy].

In an ex vivo- and an animal study a Holmium-YAG laser, a Nd:YAG laser and a CO2 laser were examined. For laparoscopic cholecystectomy the pulsed Holmium:YAG laser proved to be the best instrument. Dissecting and haemostatic effects were connected when working with a power of 4 watts. Dissected area per minute was 112 mm2, gallbladder dissection (15 cm2) can be performed in 13 min. In the animal study the cholecystectomy lasted 30 min on average when the Holmium:YAG laser was used. Bleeding was not observed, development of smoke was tolerable.

Endothelial cell helix in small arterioles of human ureters. A study by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Microvessel corrosion casts of human ureters were prepared. Portions of casts were longitudinally cut by use of a pulsed Eximer laser beam in order to get insight into microvessel branches studied in SEM. Larger arterioles (greater than 30 microns in diameter) showed oval imprints of endothelial cell nuclei along the vessel axis. Imprints were found in furrows parallel to resin ridges. Smaller arterioles (less than microns in diameter) displayed imprints of nuclei aligned in a helix around the vessel axis. With regard to capillaries, one nucleus imprint was spaced far apart from the other. Venules demonstrated a reticular network of thick, attenuated resin ridges and of small meshes which consisted of round or oval nucleus imprints. It is concluded that smaller arterioles form an endothelial cells helix.

[Two unusual periosteal exotoses].

After maceration of the skeleton of 2 persons we found 2 different solitary exostoses; one at the sciatic tuber, in the other at the sciatic tuber, in the other at the ventral side of the distal fibula. The exostoses reach a length of 2 cm. Prescher (1987) described a cartilaginous exostosis with a length of 2 cm at the proximal tibia. In our cases the exostoses belong to the periosteal form. We consider them to be bony origins of ligaments: at the sciatic tuber--the bony origin of the sacrotuberal ligament, at the distal fibula--the bony origin of the peroneal compartment of the retinaculum mm extensorum inferius.
